Poor horses getting their mouths pulled on so hard

Show jumpers are notorious for it especially “pro” ones. It’s very sad that they do and that if the horse acts up some of the crop the heck out of them 😓

They don't mean to pull the horses mouths it's against the clock as us British call it but right after a show and they get back to the yard the horse get make over basically lol and a big long groom these riders do this for a living how they make money so if you every grow up to be a top international show jumper so anything you will find you will be pulling on the horses mouth Im just say OK 😁🤯

@@elizabethequestrian7335 just because it happens doesn’t mean it’s how it should happen. And most of these (if not all) of these riders are extremely wealthy, and are not hurting for money. That is no excuse to cause their horse pain and stress for the sake of a ribbon. Some show jumpers pull for no reason other than to communicate with their horse, and that is one thing, but if they are pulling excessively at every fence you have to question what training shortcuts they took to make that nessacary.

I believe the horse is trying to bit the foot of the rider to knocking down him. Its a bad signal, it mean the horse doesn't feel comfortable :(

@@anagalafernandez340 The rider is pulling on his left rein very hard, therefore the horse is in pain and mouth is wide open. Rider should have been given a penalty just as riders are penalized for overuse of the whip. His punitive yanking on the reins was completely inappropriate at home or at the show.

I don't know where the heart is for horses. Of course, what matters is that the man whose horse takes his ass wherever his heart desires must win. And at the expense of the horse's health. How can that be?! I have never been and never will be an advocate of treating the horse as a machine to fulfill our idiotic whims. Maybe let's face the horse ??? Maybe let's look deeper into his psyche??? And do not bully him just because he does not want to jump an obstacle almost 2 meters. It's not in the hell the nature of these beautiful horses!!! People, let's respect each other and our mounts all the more. After all, they had to surrender to man in a sense. Let's love them for taking our asses wherever we want!!!

@Olga Danilewicz, I agree. Hardly any observer knows that when a horse jumps they land with all their weight and the rider's weight on one foot. I adopted two horses, who got Navicular Disease (smallest bone in the hoof) because they were lame from jumping.
@songbird6414

@@cubnation I’ve been jumping for ten years, and I can tell you that navicular disease is a result of poor riding, not riding in general. There are ways to make a horse balanced when they go over a jump so that they don’t land as hard - I’m being taught how right now. My horse, who absolutely loves jumping and gets visibly depressed when he can’t - had a prior foot injury before I got him, so me and my instructor have to be extra careful when we go higher. He’s fully capable of it, but my instructor is very adamant that I do it the right way.

@@songbird6414 *I said I adopted two horses that got navicular from jumping. I never said that jumping is the **_ONLY_** cause. Actually, if you really understood Navicular Disease, you would understand that even veterinarians and people doing research on the disease itself are not sure what causes it, because it happens in horses that **_DON'T_** jump. It is definitely not just the result of poor riding. Did you just post so you can brag about jumping for a whole ten years? When you actually end up with a horse with Navicular Disease then come back and enlighten us all. I treated the two horses with Navicular Disease and they went into "remission" sound as a pin. One has already passed away and he died from Cushings at the age of 32, and **_not_** having to be put down from end stage Navicular Disease. When the horses came to me they had digital radiography done so a treatment plan could be set up. I don't just ride and get advise from a trainer. I take care of my horses first. I am a horsewomen and not just a rider. You?*

@@cubnation okay one I’m very sorry I wasn’t trying to pick a fight. I mentioned how long I’ve been riding to give myself some kind of credibility, not to brag. I’m actually very young and have taken advice from multiple adults, not just a trainer, on how to take care of my boy(who’s very happy, btw). I actually didn’t know that about navicular disease, so thank you for filling me in on that(my horse doesn’t have it, so I’m not very well educated on it). I simply responded to you because I’d believed you were making an argument that jumping causes navicular disease, and wanted to open that conversation. I simply misunderstood your comment, and was not trying to be rude or abrasive or arrogant. Forgive me if that was how my comment came across.

@@cubnation also just a heads up my horse is also on a treatment plan recommended by multiple vets. My family takes extra expenses for therapeutic shoes and tendon injections to make sure my horse is sound, and if I feel that he’s having an off day, if the jump is too high, or even if the footing is too unsure, I don’t force him to ride. I love my horse more than anything and I absolutely do as much as I can to protect him and keep him safe. I’m very sorry to hear about your horse, but it seems he/she lived a long and happy life under the care of someone who was well-read and cared quite a bit.

You can tell the problem is all the riders fault. The horse just says What the fuck do you expect to accomplish here ? Horse says oh no I'm not risking my life for you piece of selfish shit ass human. And he dumps them over the fence , and says .....there you are delivered over this high as shit fence, go get your ribbon you human, I'm out of here .

Definitely not true. Sometimes it is true for the refusals, but sometimes the horse will loose its footing or make a mistake on their own. It can be corrected with proper training but note how different the show environment is from training

I realize now why I'm not a big fan of the female riders from the USA...all pushing to no distance and pulling when there was no room left to jump..Yes, trust your horse, but make the right decisions WITH them. We are spoiled here with our euro horses and the lady riders definitely showed that time and time again in this comp. too bad!
