READ FOR A SUM UP of the show! FULL VIDEOS from our rounds are shown at about 6-7 minutes into the video!
May 1st 2018- first outdoor show of the year and our first time jumping outside since.. June last year lol.
It was also our first time in almost a year doing 1.20m!
I was unfocused the whole day and didn't do my best, and I'm a little dissapointed in myself.
But Cara was a superstar like always and jumped her heart out! I'm so blessed to have such a brave little horse.
We had a great day, finishing 5th in the 1.10m with 4 faults in the jumpoff, and we had the first fence down in the 1.20m (lol.. my bad?!).
Her stunning halter, bridle, reins, breastplate, fly veil and saddle pad is from dapple equestrian - www.dappleeque...
My breeches and belt are from ghodho, www.ghodho.com
Hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching!

I don't think a professional rider could handle Cara any better than YOU do. I love to watch her jump... it's like she has springs in her hind legs, and she is very careful when she is focused. I am sure she will settle down as the show season continues. Moving from an inside ring to outside makes many horses "hot". I have been one of your subs for a while, and I am thrilled to see you happy and doing so well. Congrats and waiting for more videos!!

Patti 1962 That springy thing she is doing with her legs cantering will actually tear a lot on her joints and legs. She is literally pushing from the hard tissue in her calfs, it's a wonder she hasn't gone lame yet. This canter is a one-beat canter, not a relaxed third or forth as it should be. She's not running off because she's exited, she runs off because the rider is super hard in the hands and is commanding the horse to run. The horse was probably really frightened or hot in the beginning and the rider just went with it instead of trying to calm her down or at least not canter that fast in the jumping. From my perspective it doesn't seem like the rider cares a lot for the horses safety or comfort when riding, the rider just wants to jump around and finish the course. Very sad riding actually. Poor horse. It deserves a calmer rider who won't be so harsh.

she's not hard in the hands...trust me I have owned a similar horse. If your horse sticks their head up that much you have to keep a shorter rein to keep the contact consistent, if you are not consistent that's when you end up jabbing the horse in the mouth. When you are consistent then the horse usually stretches down into the contact, but obviously Cara still gets overexcited jumping and doesnt do that except in flatwork yet. Therese does a great job with Cara and I'd like to see you try and do better.

Therese, I am so sorry there are many "expert" trainers out there who have all the answers. You should send Cara to them and let them show YOU how it is done. What I do know, it you have great trainers helping you, and no matter what anyone says, you ARE a wonderful rider!!

Patti 1962 OML exactly! I don't think a professional trainer could jump Cara better than Therese, he knows Cara inside out!

I'm not a professional trainer, but I do have a clean eye. That horses neck is broken by the second and third vertebrae, which normally is caused by a riders with too hard hands. It happens when a horse head is pulled on so much that the tissue between the vertebrates is forcefully stretched out causing that horrible line in the horse's neck. I'm not making stuff up or "hating" on the rider. I'm telling the truth to you who watch her so that you'll understand that the riding she is doing should not be wantable nor desirable. What Therese is doing to her horse is actually destructive and the horse is probably experiencing a lot of pain or at least soreness.

You are an excellent rider but something about Cora to me always screams pain - the "deer" jumps, upright headset over jumps, she is hollow all. the. time. Her body is tense and does not arch. Her flatwork she is behind the vertical and breaks at the third vertebrae. I would explore kissing spines and c4, c5, c6 neck arthritis with her. She is scopey and talented for sure but she seems off.

I'm just here admiring Cara's beautifulllll top line in that first clip
@sarab1000
@sarab1000 6 жыл бұрын
Nala 305 idk if ur being sarcastic or not. That's a horrible top line, the horses neck is literally broken at the top because of the riders harsh fucking hands.
@nala3055
@nala3055 6 жыл бұрын
If the horses neck was broken it would be dead, not jumping over 1m20 jumps. When a horse has a good topline it presents itself as one long line of muscle in the middle of the neck, whereas in horses that have not been worked correctly have two separated lines of muscle as the top and bottom of their neck. In the first clip we can see that Cara has the first type. It is apparent that she has very little trapezius and most of the hypertrophy has been at the top of her neck, but that's probably as a result of her sticking her head up. As someone who has owned a horse like Cara, it takes an extremely long time and a lot of patience to get horses who have been taught to behave this way to relax down into an outline. Therese is doing a great job with her so far. As for her "harsh fucking hands"? I assume you're referring to the fact that Cara is on a very short rein in the jumping arena. You probably assumed this was because Therese was yanking on her mouth or similar, but if this were the case I expect Cara would be acting in a lot more pain from the bit. What you can see, is a horse who naturally sticks her head up, therefore in order to maintain a consistent contact Therese must keep the reins shorter. Judging by Therese's work with Cara so far, I am sure she will continue to train Cara to move her head down and move into the contact in a longer rein, even while she's excited in the jumping arena. You done hating now?

I haven't even watched the full video yet but I still gotta comment: Cara's face at 3:20 when you say "we're driving now" it's hilarious XD "say whaaaat mom??? we are most definitely not driving anywhere. I'mm a space rocket. Me needs no driving" okay, back to the video now... lol You two were absolutely flying! Such a shame about those poles, but it happens to all of us and in no way those faults define your rounds. Can't wait to see how well you two are going to do in the 1.30m class!!

(This is a copy and paste to those who noticed the soundless part) thank you so much for watching the whole video 💙 Cara was such a good girl! And I’m so happy and proud that we had good rounds in the 110m and 120m considering how long it’s been since we’ve jumped and since we’ve been to shows!
