"Visa Dig" by Annika Herlitz and Linda Olsson
I'm so in love with this song!
I realized that I wrote "något" when she sings "nånting" 1:41, it means the same thing though so the translation is the same.

I work in the cinema in northern Sweden, and i saw this in swedish with the audience. And i actually think Frozen 2 has better music and story. This song gave me shivers. Annika is magical in this movie and i think this is one of the best sequals of a Disney movie ever. This movie nearly made me cry several times, and im 34 :). Great job to Tove for the upload in good quality with translation. I will show up here all the time. Great version :D

@@HCK_11 I don't know much about the words you have at your disposal. I just find the pronunciation in Finnish to be not that great. It's the same problem in basically all the east Europen languages, Arabic, Hebrew and to an extent even German. I am really happy with what Swedish has. A good amount of word choice, good pronunciation, a nice and original tone and the R sound isn't terrible xD.

At 1:54 She says "Inga normer gällde mig." And the word 'norm' doesn't really have an english translation, the closest is definitely stereotype but it goes farther than just stereotypes. A norm is something that society expects you to do, it's what's considered normal to do because if you break the norm people are gonna dislike you or think you're weird. A norm could be anything from being straight to waiting in line in the grocery store.

Okay, I don't know if it has been mentioned before but "Kom min skatt jag väntar kvar" doesn't translate to "Come here my darling, I'm waiting here". If you would take the translation from the video and translate it back to Swedish it would amount to something like "Kom HIT min ÄLSKLING jag väntar HÄR." The actual translation would be something like... "Come my treasure, I'm waiting where you last saw me". or something along those lines. To put it simply, "Kvar" is a word used for a number of things. Something that's been left behind at a location or even just to state that you've left something untouched. In this situation, the word is used to indicate that the person remains somewhere the other is familiar with or will remain in that place after they leave depending on how you interpret the meaning (I translated based on the line from the original English version of the song). Language is tricky business...
@tovemicaelsson1936
@tovemicaelsson1936 4 жыл бұрын
Inga Bergman Well, maybe you’re right but this is my interpretation of the lyrics. I felt like they only used ”kvar” to rhyme on ”svar” and therefore just meant ”I’m waiting here”. I also think ”darling” and ”treasure” have the same meaning so I used the most common word of those two. I also feel like they don’t have enought time to produce lyrics with deeper meaning than what I’ve written. But that’s just my opinion.
@ingabergman119
@ingabergman119 4 жыл бұрын
@@tovemicaelsson1936 That is true, I didn't necessarily feel like there is anything wrong with your translation, I'm just Autistic and tend to get caught on things like these, I just wanted to let others know about it as well. Truthfully, the Swedish version of the song has PLENTY of parts that don't really make sense grammatically (the switch between the bridge and the chorus being but a few of them, something which bugs me quite a bit) and sacrifices have to be made, but I feel a more... literal translation would be appreciated by the more... nit-picky watchers out there; because you know there will be a few. Also... I'm not really of the same mindset about Darling and Skatt carrying the same meaning, but that could just be how the word weighs in my mind. I have a weird relationship with Pet-names, okay.

Personally I'd translate "Kom min skatt, jag väntar kvar." into "Come my dearest, I remain waiting". 🙂
@ingabergman119
@ingabergman119 4 жыл бұрын
@@Valkyriesphere Acceptable. I just tend to prefer as literal a translation as possible. Depending on the situation it can become quite fun. Especially if you translate the word itself literally. Grönsaker (vegetables) = Green things Smörgås (sandwich) = Butter goose Sköldpadda (turtle) = Shield toad It's FUN.
@Valkyriesphere
@Valkyriesphere 4 жыл бұрын
@@ingabergman119 I sincerely agree, it is indeed fun :) And as you said, I choose the word "remain" to be as literally close as possible to "kvar". Whereas "treasure" sounds a bit off in English in this case, so the closest I could think of is "dearest". 😉
