Showcase - Hot Wheels 1/87 scale models.. wait, what??

That sure looked like the old TH logo and TH Treasure Chest on the Purple Passion. I remember seeing a small number of these 1:87 scale Hot Wheels on the shelves back here in 2008, but never picked any up. I think some of these would be quite rare to find now (like all three colour variations of the Honda Civic Si). Thanks for showing us these =)

I've heard that Hot Wheels had a 1/87 series in mid 2000s, but it's the first time i've seen these in person. The Custom '67 Mustang, the '55 Chevy Panel and the copper Honda Civic Si are my favorites. My guess is that this smaller scale was not very successful for Hot Wheels, so they discontinued it. Yet the cars have nice wheels and details. The only other company for 1/87 diecast i can think of is Schuco, quality castings but expensive to get. Thanks for showing these!

My first time seeing them too. My first thought was ‘is it a bootleg? knock-off?’ coz never seen one before. But the details are astounding. Definitely geared for collectors not kids. Kinda sad the scale was not popular enough and was discontinued.

These were sold primarily at TRU when they were new but I never saw the Passion with the TH logo and I even opened a box back then. I'm jelly but Congrats to you !

My 1/87 Purple Passion is gloss black and doesn't have flames on the top like your version does. I wonder why there is a difference?

@@MuazliMarzuki Mine is typical of all others I've seen. You might have something rare. It could be they made some Treasure Hunt versions of the 1/87 vehicles or you might have some prototype that escaped the factory. Unfortunately, I can't find much information on the 1/87 Hot Wheels beyond the standard offerings. Nice find, enjoy!

Desire Lines yeah, I also struggle to find infos on the Hot Wheels 1/87 in the internet.. it’s a shame it was discontinued as there are some awesome castings involved in 1/87, I guess the market wasn’t ready for it at that point of time
