I’ve used that shower cleaner for a couple of years now. To those that have never used it, you can literally take a rag to wipe it down. You don’t even need to scrub with a sponge or brush, THAT is how well it works! I def need to try the grout and toilet cleaner bc my grout gives me a fit every single time. I have learned, I can’t stand grout, especially in the shower 😂

I am beyond impressed! Our fiberglass tub stall is 24 years old. Getting it clean is a chore. Getting my handmade (lard) bar soap scum and hard-as-nails water off... well... it is clean at least. Not only did the shower cleaner leave it like brand new, it worked on the ceramic-coated cast-iron sink hard water crust that builds up around the drain. The toilet cleaner? 24 year old toilets and it cleaned them fantastically. A little brush action and done. Thank you! Excellent recipes!

I've made it before using another recipe, but like yours so much more. And I also made the toilet cleaner. I put mine in an empty dawn dish soap bottle. Works so well!!! I had a spot in the bottom where the water goes out that wouldn't come out and it did with your cleaner. Wow! I've used dawn/vinegar for years, but at 50/50 concentration. I use it in the dish scrubbers that hold soap in the handle and a scrub sponge on the end. It makes scrubbing grout easier for me in my shower. I like the idea of the concentration for less dawn to spray and leave on the glass. I started using dawn/vinegar on the glass too late and I am still fighting soap scum/hard water stains on the glass. I will make and try leaving the spray on to see if it helps break it down! Thank you!!

I’ve been using the vinegar and Dawn cleaner in my kitchen for years, and it cuts grease better than anything else! I add either cinnamon essential oil or citrus, depending on the mood I’m in when I make it. I have used it in the bathroom too, but I still use the bad storebought stuff 😱 in there. You’ve inspired me to stop doing that. I have some citric acid somewhere, so I’ll mix up the toilet cleaner today and give it a try. I think I heard you mention a toilet cleaner bomb. I stick to comet in the tub. I’m not falling in bathrm. I know someone who fell and hit their head on edge of the sink counter. She died almost right away. I only use swiffer wet mop (I make a diy cleaner for it) on floor, it dries super quick as it’s a damp mop. I wipe around edges by wall and around toilet. I have no rugs in there and tub strips in bottom of tub along with a grab bar. We have a super strong holder bolted into wall for a sturdy shower curtain rod, that way it won’t fall on us if we grab the curtain but might actually help break a fall. I also have no trailing vine plants in there.

Just an FYI do not over use Citric Acid. If you do you will build an intolerance for it. I will tell you from experience it is not fun. When orange cleaner first came out I over used them and I drank orange juice and ate fruit that was citrus. Well now I have a severe allergy to Citric Acid and I will tell you it is in everything. I am finding that I have to make everything. This is why your channel is so helpful to me. I cannot find a hand cleaner on the market without it. It is really hard to find a body liquid soap for the shower I have to use bar soap. Hair soap is also becoming more difficult to find. Recently there has been an explosion of Citric Acid in foods. I have been sick for awhile and then we finally figured it out that is now in Spaghetti Sauce, tomato sauce and so much more have this in them. A lot of the reason I watch your channel. You will be surprise, just start looking for Citric Acid and Ascorbic Acid. Again, just and FYI so you do not end up with this life changing Allergy. Thank you for all you do.
@LittleHillHomesteadGa2 ай бұрын
Oh goodness! That’s awful. I understand because I recently figured out I have an allergy to SLS which is in everything and under a million different names. I also have an autoimmune disease and this is a big part of why we make as much as we can knowing what we are using. I do know that citric acid is used as a preservative in so many things. I’ll start adding vinegar to things to see if it achieves the same results.
@sharlenealexander13082 ай бұрын
@LittleHillHomesteadGa thanks for the reply and I will keep watching.
@simonesmucker525Ай бұрын
Citric acid naturally occurs in citrus fruits. However, synthetic versions are produced from a type of mold. They can cause adverse reactions in some people, particularly if they are allergic to mold or have histamine issues. I too have an autoimmune condition, and while I'm careful about ingesting the stuff, I'm hoping it will be ok to clean with if I use gloves. We have minerals in our water, and no cleaning products I've tried so far can clean the residue. Even the pumice stone doesn't get it off.

I hope my comment does not hurt anyone's feelings, but it is my understanding that mixing Dawn (a base) and vinegar (an acid) causes one to neutralize the other, thus cancelling the benefits of using them separately. I mix Dawn (2 or 3 tbsp) and water in a 16 oz spray bottle near my sink and use this for spraying random dishes for handwashing or dishcloths for wiping a counter, etc. When using this to wash water bottles, pet dishes, etc., I spray them with a solution of vinegar and water which I keep in another spray bottle near the sink. This solution removes any soap residue (neutralizes the soap) and solves the issue of soap taste experienced by some reviewers. I have found that Dawn (undiluted) is very concentrated (which makes it very effective for cleaning and grease removal) and a little goes a long way. On those occasions when I have used a bit too much in my dishpan, it is challenging to rinse it off properly (without a vinegar spray) and can leave a residual taste (yuk!!). Hope this info is helpful.
@LittleHillHomesteadGa2 ай бұрын
I’ve never heard this. I’ll have to dig in.
@cathylarkin56642 ай бұрын
@@LittleHillHomesteadGa It's not surprising as mixing the 2 is widely proposed across the internet. Mixing vinegar with a base like Dawn "insaponifies" the soap (splits the soap basically). Separately, Dawn and vinegar are powerhouses for cleaning. Try mixing up a little Dawn and water to form a sudsy solution in your sink and spray the vinegar and water solution over the suds. The suds will begin to disintegrate. I often do this after dumping my dishpan down the drain and rinsing the sudsy water away. I handwash my dishes as I do not own a dishwasher. Good luck with your channel. From your reviewer comments, you are well appreciated!👍😊
@ddmo552 ай бұрын
It does neutralize the toxic fumes of each, but not the cleaning power of each when put together. That is a different chemical reaction that intensifies cleaning power. Search for the science of this using the question "Is Dawn Dish Soap Safe with Vinegar"
