Sir, I really enjoy your content and channel. I just picked up a 2015 KX 450, and i was wondering how much oil you recommend adding after a change with and without a filter. The manual I'm looking at seems to be off. Thanks again for the great help you are in these videos.

Thank you for your feedback and support. It looks like 1.3 US quarts or 1.2 L total capacity. I usually just use the sight glass on these to get them dialed in

How many hours did you ride it in 6 years? I am guessing you never changed the piston in those years

Nope, never had to do a top or bottom end. I am very attentive to maintenance. Also, I’m a casual rider and my bike almost never sees the limiter.

@@restoroosterohv I have a 2007 and I am just rebuilding it from the ground up. It has been abused for years, the chain is rock hard and I am surprised how strong this engine is given the abuse. I put a new rod(wossner, OEM had the small end galling but big end had no play) all new oem bearings,a 13:1 piston, pro circuit intake cam, procircuit ti-6 exhaust, stainless steel intake and exhaust valves with stiffer springs, boysen bigger waterpump, also planning on a electric KTM radiator fan. My plan is to make it as reliable as it can be and as strong as it can be. Also I m looking at fitting the klx450 wide ratio gearbox in it to make it more trail riding friendly

@bike23august these engines (450) are extremely strong and reliable not to mention very torquey. I had a RMZ450 that I really liked (personal bike). I picked up my 07 KX450F for a good price and did a few odds and ends to flip it. I ended up letting my friend use it when we went out to Florida tracks and trails one day and decided to take it for a spin myself (never rode it). Turns out, I put the RMZ up for sale instead.
