During architecture school, such classes/tutorials sounded very important. But who is the target audience for such tutorials? As an architecture student, it was important to have amazing visuals; have an amazing portfolio, etc. But after working as an architect for several years, I have seen many architecture firms that only require architects who can produce black and white detailed working drawings and perhaps also manage the project, during the construction phases. It is a job full of knowing building regulations, sustainable aspects, environmental design, and working within a budget. Hence, I always wonder if this is for working architects, which architecture firms actually require you to use amazing Photoshop skills; or what position in an architecture firm requires photoshop usage regularly? We spent so many nights producing amazing-looking drawings at university, but when you start actually working, neither the local authority nor the engineers nor the client wants to receive bulky files of lovely images, nor videos. Yes, even the clients sometimes do not want to pay extra for photorealistic renders and videos. Is it something for: the grand architecture firms; for certain countries; for firms working on specific typologies; or for firms that do a lot of competitions? I would love to do more of this, but in my working experience, at best we find clients who require photorealistic renders of their projects. Am I missing something? Do architects make a normal set of drawings for the engineers and for construction, and then create another set of drawings with amazing visuals?

Mostly for students I think and there are some firms that hire a 3D artist just like draftsman but for me As a graduated interior designer with not that artistic portfolio no matter where I apply or how much great ideas actually my designs contain I have never got a chance for a real job, I thought that this might be the case so I started improving my skills in visualization hoping to get the chance to be seen
@Thomeeno Жыл бұрын
As an architect i must say this is useless, authorities do not want photoshop drawings, customers do not want to pay extra work in photoshop, they rather want 3D visuals if paying extra money and city planners already do know these techniques.... But seems YT starting to be full of these tutorials from people who had seen this kind of job only from "the train".....

Architecture should solve porblems, creating stunning visuals can be useful for particular projects...I would say this video will help people to have great photoshop skill and how to use different techniques in order to create nice visuals, but when it comes to Art I think people should sketch and develop ideas which can solve problems, but the video emaphasize on the usage of tools and technique.

@@Thomeeno Exactly my experience, too: neither authorities nor clients really want them, unless you are adding them in your spare time, for free.

this is a really great video for creating a cool masterplan!!! just one question here, for creating the grass gradient, would it make any diference if we assign 'pattern' directly on each contour region and give each a different opacity? thanks in advance for any help!
@ShowItBetter2 ай бұрын
that would be a great idea! I think it would still work. Maybe if this is a high res texture you would just want to be careful that there is continuity in the grass texture. But go for it!

How do you proceed, if you want to make a 3d sketch out of this ? I mean the house and the trees, so that you can print a Presentaion board and view the site from different angles?
@ShowItBetter Жыл бұрын
well this is specifically geared towards showing a site plan, assuming the 3d model from the rest is shown in other ways. It's not meant to change the angle or serve as a realistic render. If you wanted to do that, then it would be best to render this and do all of this in a render engine

Which brushes did you use from the resourses link?
@ShowItBetter2 жыл бұрын

As an architect i can't imagine use this into my projects. Building authorities would throw me away from their office with this kind of plans as they are requiring black and white situation plans with water/electricity etc. networks and some special borders coloured, while customers mostly does not matter on detailed floor plans and situations like this, more important for customer is vizualization itself. I may render awesome 3D orthographic plans by few clicks from 3D model without spending time in photoshop. For most of architectural jobs this is useless, and those few city planners already has similar techniques......

Does anyone know how to import all the layers from autocad in pdf in photoshop retaining the actual size? Somehow when I import the layers ( For example, trees, roads , plaza, etc.) to photoshop, it only shows the elements without showing the whole page that i exported (A2). Very frustrating :/

I have had issues with importing a PDF and not all of the lines importing... the fix has been to either try a different plotter or export the PDF to an image and importing that instead

dude first of all your description says something and at the beginning of the video you say something completly different first of all. I suggest in the future to start talking exacly about what you write down in your video title, and also if you do informational video try to put chapters, because you might waste the viewers time otherwise, as you wasted mine. I read your title and i tought i found what i was looking for but no. I don t intend to hate, I don t say your content is bad, just care more about what I said. I typed this comm because I was really angry because I found out after 7 minutes of video that i wasted my time.
