Not only did he master the piano, he did something that no one else has done before or since, he brought the piano to the forefront of mainstream entertainment. No one else has done that. No one filled his shoes in the entertainment world after his passing.

Liberace had the ability to sound like no-one else. I have never heard arrangements as good as his from anyone else. He was fantastic, thank goodness we still have recordings of him.
@scabbycatcat42022 жыл бұрын
I agree entirely. But what gets overlooked because of all the showmanship razzmatazz and lifestyle etc is were all his arrangements his own ?? and what about the fantastic orchestral accompaniment ? I watched a documentary about him once where it claimed his brother George was his music arranger, if so George must have been a fantastic musician in his own right. I wish someone would do a documentary about Liberaceys MUSIC.

you have no idea about music, if you think that arrpegios and tra la la is something special.... the notes and scales this man uses, are nothing more than exercises to improve playing... ... the boring ones, that make showmen seem like masters
@krisgreen5254 Жыл бұрын
Well, he was the highest paid entertainer in the world for over 20 years straight, so those "boring exercises" as you refer to them must have sounded like Heaven to his fans. He was the greatest showman of all time...no one will ever have his talent, humor, kindness or generosity of spirit ever again. He made this world better just by being in it.

I have a retired port authority police officer in Seattle, WA who had to meet celebrities when their planes landed in Seattle to be sure they were escorted to their next plane safe and sound. He is quite straight to say it mildly. Of all the celebrities he dealt with he always tells the story that Lee was the nicest by far!

Probably the best pianist of all time (definitely the most relaxed and comfortable one). I will never get over how maestro Liberace can just play difficult scores without straining. He is a wizard on the keyboard.

Do people realize what a brilliant arranger of popular songs he was? He could play Chopin as well as Chopin, yet executed his own arrangements like this. A true artist talent of all time!
@AS-zk6hz6 жыл бұрын
He was a highly trained classical pianist. His debut was in 1940 Chicago Symphony orchestra. He soon learned that classical pianists do not earn a lot. Thus he became Mr. Showmanship. He plays everything without music in front of him...he was fantastic....

@@ASzkrab Well perhaps I could provide an answer. Douglas, like so many others has played parts in films that he should be ashamed of. He is one of many who is slowly and deliberately persuading us that violence is " cool " and evil and nastiness is somehow good. Should I ever meet Douglas I would be tempted to punch him in the face and then ask if he liked being on the receiving end of violence.

Some piano purists will say Liberace wasn’t as accomplished (in skill) as some of us think he was. That makes me angry. There is something about his playing that his true fans understand and those snobs do not. Liberace played with his heart and you can tell he loved music and he poured his heart into his playing. The man simply made love to the piano and that’s what makes some of us enjoy his music and adore him so much. He was one of a kind. There will never, ever be another Liberace.

My favorite pianist!!! His skill and ability are beyond compare. Those who say he wasn’t good are the ones who probably cant play anyways so there opinions really mean nothing except they have a knack for being a$$holes. If someone can play better then by all means do it. Don’t worry I’ll wait.

they were all jealous
@digitalgr8ness5 жыл бұрын
It's jealousy, plain and simple. Liberace was a master pianist, a classically trained concert pianist who became a commercial success. He made classical music accessible to the masses. To the snobby purists and musician wannabes, that's taboo. He doesn't reach their fantasy world standard of musicianship because they like to hate just for the sake of hating. It's B.S. snobbery of the highest degree. They claim they know music and everyone else doesn't. Real musicians have always respected Liberace. His technique was flawless and second to none. He was a master at his craft.
@ajayaymusic5 жыл бұрын
I agree and anyone who says he wasn’t accomplished is talking out their ear. I’ve been playing the piano for 43 years and was classically trained and I can tell you that Lee had great skill and talent. Find his video of Tea for Two or the Gershwin medley on Jerry Lewis’ telethon. Sheer brilliance. He was an amazing entertainer and there’s room in the world for this kind of entertainment just as much as for more “serious” music. Lovely story of when Horowitz made his return to Carnegie Hall and there were people queueing round the block for tickets and the doorman said something like “you mean this guy is as big as Liberace?”
@Melbournelost664 жыл бұрын
These days there are no real entertainers, not like Liberace. People liked Liberace for who he was, his ability to entertain and mastering of the piano. Fun, sentimental, upbeat, classical he catered for all. Today we have the bottom of the barrel for entertainment!
