Most of the discount comes from insurance and accessories. So don't take it from showroom and you will save maximum amount there itself. Company will give you fixed discount on ex-showroom price which dealer cannot deny. However dealer can provide additional discount on car only if he has pressure to clear existing stock of a certain car. If the car is in high demand, then no dealer will give discount.
