I enjoyed the bands but do feel all the highschoolers should've performed first to get them out the way. You got colleges wanting to perform/battle because at most battles/competitions that's what they're use to

yeah i performed with the highschool and the colleges played while we were trying to perform it could have been organized so much better

Yeah that is normal it's a battle of the bands they play over each other "battle" also why some of the bands started leaving and I never been to a classic where you have a certain amount of time to perform. You should definitely look into savannah battle of the bands as well Atlanta, Alabama, Texas it's more organized foresure

It's a shame that the HBCU bands forgot this was a high school band competition and that they are here to put on an exhibition, not a zero/5thQTR event. What's the example being set?

It really is, Dega said bump a field show to take on a band 1/2 or even 1/3 of their size. Very unprofessional.

personally as a student in one of the bands there, it was extremely boring to just sit there and watch until the college bands started playing. that was everyone’s favorite part

I hear you and it is exciting to get the HBCU Marching Band experience up close and personal, but the competition was about y'all. Speaking as an alumni member of the Marching '101,' it could have been done in a more organized fashion to facilitate the experience for the high schools without being a disruption to the competion.

I also don't know why they put together these Battle of the bands and do field shows..truth be told, the vast majority of the people are there to see either stands battles or field battles. all of these field shows, especially with soo many schools be boring as hell. Those kids are there to crank, so let the kids crank.

My daughter is in the band at one of these bands that shall remain nameless, however she and other members said this was unorganized and some of college bands were disrespectful. As an HBCU alum, mother of a NCAT BGMM member, I’m appalled. Good effort, I suppose. Much success to all the high school students and hopefully they’ll attend one of the great HBCUS.

That lady did that one flag bearer wrong She purposely made her wait for her flag. It was too far away to see her face but I am sure she had a smirk n her face. The flag custodian knew she had given the flag to the wrong person and made that one girl,wait. The drum major, doesn't she what is going on behind him, so they didn't know, she didn't have her flag. but hats off to her she twirled that flag and got in formation. The Judges should tin that back and fine the custodian for making that flag twirled wait. Didn't they push,S.C.State in front of another smaller band? Oh, I see they acknowledges S.C.State coming in,but that was disrespectful to Butler H.S. which was in formation to enter the field. That was a terrible thing to do to H.S. students. Granted the 101 is a great marching band but h.s. students work hard and should not be made to feel less. They are in training to go to college bands. The camera crew,needed to zoom in closer to the bands,when they were performing. Why did the MC directors let the bands play,when a competive band was marching in that was so rude and disrespectful. We're the bands supposed to compete from the stands. They held up the h.s.perfoming bands.This was a 4 hour video,so I assuming some of the bands were not televised. Did every band get a trophy? What about the. college bands?

I thought the high school performances were outstanding. So proud of those kids. I'm part of the organizing staff for one of the colleges and we were specifically told to play in the stands and to keep the crowd hype. STOP blaming the HBCU's. Often times we couldn't even hear what was going on and didn't get the signals. But it'll be better next year.
