People underestimate these little chippers. I have one someone gave me with a 6.5 horse briggs on it. Removed the big shute and plugged the hole with a piece of 1/2inch plywood. Shapened the knives and shimmed them out closer to the anvil. Left about 60 thousands between the knife and anvil to allow for crankshaft end play. The thing will take two inch with a little work and anything an inch and a half or smaller is no problem at all. Mine chips green wood better than dried wood. My next test will be to play with knife angle to see it if makes a difference. I know this video is four years old but good one none the less.

I have this exact chipper, it's awesome. When you restart it choke is required even when warm. I would use a 1.5x1.5 board for the feeding.

Same one I got. I have to sharpen it every year. But A 10 horse can handle two people feeding it. It is a slow process sharpening it. I took out the screen at the discharge so it would make the chips a little bigger. My tank cracked and I had to get a new one. The swivel part on the bottom of the chute broke all to pieces when i put big stuf in the big chute so I made a steel one. I can grind almost anything. If you have to push the sticks in hard it is dull.

Got a question for ya. I was given one of these and never used or had one. Anyway, can you tell me what the plastic hopper is for? Is it to put leaves in to chop them up or what? Pretty sure that’s what it’s for, but I want to know for sure before stuffing it full of leaves.

if you do keep sticking your arm in there make sure you get it on tape.

The business end of that thing is a little further down, I have a plunger device from MTD that works quite well. The other end of that machine is much more dangerous as I believe one could get a hand in its business with less effort.

So is the other end for bigger diameter branches?

The other side is for leaves and smaller material up to 1/2"..it feeds into the shredder section which are flail type blades..

Could you please show more pictures of the choke lever area. I have the same shredder and the choke lever on mine doesn't seem to be attached to anything therefore it doesn't do anything. Manufacturer doesn't have any pictures. S

Look at the tag on your engine and look up the parts diagram.

You are not being safe... sticking your arm in there ...

You're actually setting a bad example...you're pushing your arm too deep into the chute and the push board you're using is too short...

Send your time on what the topic heading is that you created, not talking about all your random stuff. We are only here to hear about the chipper, not all your other commentary. Maybe you like to hear yourself talk, but the rest of us certainly don't.

Bad example for safety. The board is too short and your sticking your arm in there way too deep. Get a longer board. Your arm will thank you for it.

Does not "self-feed." By the way, when you swing that camera around like you've got Parkinson's Disease it nearly made me vomit. Have some respect for your viewers and move the camera like a pro not an amateur. I think you might see your subs increase.

+snakenk The long shute is about 10 inches longer than anyones arm, You cannot hurt yourself. SO you got to make shure it is emte before you stop it or you won't start it unless you get all the sticks out of the shute.Whuch you can't reach.

The part about making sure the machine's 2 chutes are EMPTY is important. That's a proper shutdown. Otherwise it may not turn over when you want to start it again.
