Mahalasa Narayani is revered in two different ways. In one form, she is worshipped as Mohini, Lord Vishnu's female avatar, and is known as Mahalasa Narayani. Mahalasa Devi (Mhalsa) is also worshipped as the wife of Lord Khandoba. The main temples of Mahasala Mata are located in Goa and are worshipped by the people as Mahalasa Narayani, and a temple dedicated to her in Nevasa is worshipped by the people as Mhalsa, wife of Kandoba, which is considered her birthplace.
