I actually spoke with the lead visual designer on a call a few years back and he told me PS2 was their lead platform.

This was typically the case for many multiplatform titles. But if you ask me though, it hardly means anything because a vast majority of multi-platform games were given more bells and whistles to GCN and Xbox than PS2 even though the PS2 was often used as a target platform for many games’ developments. In Shrek 2’s case, it’s best experienced on Xbox because it graphically looks the best while it's worst on GCN due to the lack of real-time shadows for characters.

​​@@AuntieAliasing TC NYC ports were a mess back at the day, the Game Cube specifically are full of bugs , apparently the game divides by zero every time one of those physics collisions would happen , since the PS2 handles floating point math much different than the GC , they ended up with a lazy rushed solution. The Shrek 2 game shadows probably are calculated using the PS2 vector units so they also didn't port the effect on GC even knowing the hardware is capable of doing so.

The Xbox version doesn’t glitch at all. On emulators though, the game glitches like hell because Xbox emulators are terrible, perhaps even worse than systems like the Atari Jaguar and Nintendo 64.

Probably deleted them to save on disc space. GameCube is powerful but only has 1.4GB mini-discs compared to the PS2 and Xbox's 4.7GB DVDs. Sacrifices always had to be made on the GameCube and games often look worse on it because of that despite it's power. But hey, if you had a GameCube, would you really buy a PS2 or Xbox because Shrek 2 looked SLIGHTLY better on them? Tomb Raider Legend also had to give up on shadows and Turok: Evolution has N64 level textures on the GameCube version, making it look A LOT worse than even the PS2 version despite it being a much weaker system. Shows that raw power isn't everything. I'd still go with the GameCube version though since that console had the best exclusives imo (never cared for GTA, those games are a cancer imo).
