Fun fact. Dragon's name is Elizabeth and she became a unicorn when they took the potion. Puss is a Zorro reference. They had a COPS reference and an OJ Simpson reference too. Mongo was a reference to Blazing Saddles, Ghost Busters, and Frankenstein. Far Far Away is a play on Hollywood.

"Hey it's a little cat!" I think that to myself everytime the smaller of my cats surprises me. Antonio Banderas voicing Puss N Boots is a meta-gag because of his casting as Zorro in Mask of Zorro.

Donkey’s “Im coming home Elizabeth” is from an old show called Sanford and Son starring Red Foxx. He would always clutch his chest and fake a heart attack to get out of whatever foolishness he was up to. Elizabeth was his dead wife.

I do like Shrek 2 just a little more than the 1st one. The 1st is a classic and a great message about Fiona learning to love who she is so she could accept Shrek's love. But I think the 2nd film made me laugh more and allowed Shrek to accept himself and their relationship. He lets go of her so easily because he does believe her life is worse off with him in it when it's exactly the opposite. Such a powerful thing that she had the choice this time to be a human but still chose to be an ogre with him 🙏😁❤️ Shes better than me, I would have chosen human me and human Shrek in a heartbeat 🤣🤣🤣😍

Are you ready to react to _Shrek the Third?_ Mongo is based on both _Ghostbusters_ and _Blazing Saddles._ With just a touch of _E.T._ You didn't recognize Julie Andrews (Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music) or John Cleese (Monty Python's Flying Circus, The Life of Bryan, A Fish Called Wanda)?

I grew up with this movie, at the age of 12 I used to have solo dance parties to the soundtrack on cassette (we had to change it from CD to cassette because I only had a cassette player), and I genuinely had never gotten the joke about Donkey singing the wrong lyrics to Rawhide until seeing this reaction. So thank you for that! XD

Terminator 2 was one of the rare other instances of a sequel surpassing the original in terms of how good it was. But in that case, one HAD to watch the first one in order to make the second as good, because of the preconception it twists.
@dyldog6 ай бұрын
Why watch a sequel if you never watched the first tho? Unless it’s a soft or hard reboot there’s no point of the second without the first

_Aliens_ was better than _Alien, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan_ was better than _Star Trek: The Motion Picture,_ _Terminator 2: Judgment Day_ was better than _The Terminator,_ _Superman II_ was better than _Superman: The Movie,_ and most people think that _The Empire Strikes Back_ was better than _Star Wars (A New Hope)._

That was my issue with the second movie. The pop culture references felt significantly more forced in there as jokes rather than having organic feeling vs the first movie. The movie felt more setting up the jokes you could see coming which made it less entertaining for me personally.

"Why did he think he could defeat an ogre?" Well, in the original fairy tale of Puss in Boots, he DID in fact defeat an ogre. Although he used trickery and cleverness instead of brute force and battle skills to achieve that.

A theory I heard about sequels is that sequels with "2" in the title tend to be worse while sequels with new titles (ex Empire Strikes Back) tend to be good. There are exceptions (Shrek 2 being one of them) but it is a decent pattern.
