Shriekback just never stop giving such awesome innovative tunes. I used to play this with My Spine is the Bass line at the Hippo Club in Nottingham back to back which went down really special. Some acts just come along and press all the right buttons .Blessings

I sure wish Shreikback would follow all the likes on you tube and see how much of a demand there is for re-releases their Warner Brothers recordings - actually all of their labels including Island.
@elisasuperiordork67556 жыл бұрын
A lot of the earlier shriekback stuff has in fact been given recent re-releases by the band. But they were all limited run offerings, and sold out quickly. The masters for “Jam Science” were unavailable to the band, for whatever reason, so a transfer from the most flawless vinyl proccurable was done instead.

Come to think of it regarding music from a more recent era,a friend of mine had at least a couple of the Dandy Warhols' albums,and one or two of their jams had grooves reminiscent of this.

We had back '84 and would play it at 33 1/3 rpm (supposed to play at 45). At first it was on accident, but then on purpose, because it was dark and spooky slowed down. I hardly recognize it now at the correct speed.

I have this version on 12" vinyl & CD. Groovediggeroo's correct. There are other remixes that are a little different. This is the best one for sure. There are several greatest hits compilations that include it, but only one has or had this particular mix (I believe). I remember it being a pain trying to find it on CD way back when. I added it to my itunes play list directly from the CD.If there's a way to make a copy from the CD & email it, let me know and I'll send it to you.

No Shriekback album prior to 1985’s “Oil & Gold” can be found as a download, on any legal platform, except for jam science, which recieved an expanded version, on both limited CD, and a download avilable exclusively through Shriekback.com.
@jonathanrichardson4694 жыл бұрын
The 12" single is what I had, and it was made to play at 45 rpm. We would forget to switch the the turntable from 33 1/3 and accidentally play it at the slower speed, and that is how I remember the song. It was dark and spooky slowed down.

Bummed I never got to see them live. My one chance was in Milwaukee 1985 when they toured the states as opener for Simple Minds. The drummer broke his hand the night before in Chicago so they cancelled. We were going to see them then leave as we weren't into Simple Minds. Nevertheless went to the show and Simple Minds was pretty good.

I've used this site loads its very cheap, 50 dollars gets you a rate where each track is 11 cents each...plus you get 20 tracks free....520 tracks! The quality and choice is excellent ( over 4 million mp3 tracks...I shit you not!) average file size from 6 to 10 MB and all in at least 192 compression bit rate. I do not work for them!
