thans for this video. all that bycatch/bykill for just enough shrimp to break even? there's got to be a better, cleaner way to get food to people. would shrimp pots work in this area? they are used elsewhere.

Shrimp traps really don't work we really don't kill a lot of fish some smaller fish but not enough to fuss about half the pile goose back alive if you have a good deck hand

Yes, I now have a new appreciation for a hot shrimp dinner and also what the fisherman have to deal with on a daily basis. However, I am appalled at the amount of by-catch. The fact that so many creatures were killed for so few shrimp that was just enough to "break even" sickens me. Because of this video I have now decided to stop eating shrimp until a better way is found to manage our seas. I do not want to be in part responsible for the needless deaths of so many important creatures.

you guys have serious troubles with selectivity in your nets however you can fiz that detail and improve your catches, saving precious time and not wasting it in keep jellyfish from shrimps, good luck!

Wow you have to kill alot of other stuff besides shrimp to get them. dont you get stung by the jelly fish too? and with the price of gas way up.. must be a hard to make a living doing this. wonder if theres a way to farm them?

Try a side by side. Fresh caught gulf shrimp vs. pond raised. Then decide. Everything gets eaten, including you if sharks were there. No pun intended. Some people are just messed up. If not for eating beef, there would be no cows. If not for people wanting chicken and eggs, there would be no chickens hatched, nor would many have a life at all. Even if you eat pond raised shrimp... they have to be seined and DIE! Are you a democrat?
