Hi Kendi, my house use fernest heat radiator to get heat, whenever fernest start fire I hear bang sound seems from radiator water lines, is it water hammer? If is, then why is it? Thank you.

Steam hammer, the generation of steam in side the heater tube will push the condensate water remain in the pipe, the pushing force of the steam will create shock wave when condensate form obstacles
Keni 兄, 因为身在異乡很多年,很多中文字都忘了。希望你ok我用英文,遲些要再学好中文。I quite enjoyed this particular article because I had the same water hammer issues in two of my shower rooms recently. Your experience echos to my understanding. My two showers were installed with brand named shower trims with fast spring loaded on/off valve design . The on/off water supply is activated by pushing a button with no manual control on either the water volume/flow rate nor the on/off time. So it takes no time to shut off the water supply and water hammer shock /vibration developed. From the physics point of view, Amount of force generated F= (m1*v1 - m2*v2)÷ △t. Where m1 and m2 are the same, which are the water mass in the pipe from the city water meter in the basement to the shower shut off valve. V1 is the velocity of this mass of water flow when the valve is open. V1 is a function of the city water pressure. V2 is zero when the valve is closed and water flow comes to rest. △t is the time to arrest v2 to zero from v1, which is speed dependent on the shut off valve. From the rate of momentum change equation, the shorter the shut off time and the larger the amount of water in the pipe under a given v1, the larger the pounding force/shock generated. Agree? I came across with the same idea of installing your suggested water hammer arrestor and I was worrying about its durability because the seal is a moving part. To replace this part means I have to break the shower walls to get access when happened. This is a big and costly task. Your video also suggests the life span of such device is about ten years, may be more or may be much less. A week ago I replaced and reinstalled with a conventional trim design with manual volume control on/off valve. The gradual reduction of water flow rate plus longer time to fully shut off the supplied shower water solved the water hammer problem. Lessons learned is don't buy any trims with fast spring loaded shut off valves because of eye pleasing, especially there is no accessibility for maintenance. Kendi, do you know other reliable types of devices to solve water hammer issue for outdoor purpose because I have an automatic sprinkler system for the lawn? The winter temperature here is below freezing. Keep up with the good work. Very educational and practical. Thanks.

www.bunnings.com.au/doust-15mm-male-and-female-anti-hammer-water-saver-adaptor-valve_p4920060 I recently installed this type of valve to my garden hose. It seems to work for now. But I don’t know how the mechanism works. And it is still too soon for me to comment on its durability.
