Riki is a very special chimp and has a close tight bond with his mom. He helped to fend off 4 big males from beating her mercilessly for almost 15 minutes when he was only around 3 years old and continued to stick by her. He treats his sisters with tenderness, care and lots of love. He would never intentionally hurt them. This zoo has very aggressive males and this is why they are segregated most of the time. Riki is definitely a special boy.

Oh my ....is that him ? ...I watched that video not long ago he was trying his little hardest to keep them off of her...do you know why they were beating on her? ....how special is he.....his sibling knows him well or he wouldn't go to him like that ....so sweet..

Riki fought 2 male chimps which were Ryu and grandpa Charlie, the third chimp was the dominate female named Rolly who has passed away. Poor Akiko went there to see what was happening and ended up hiding in the bushes. Akiko was so sweet to approach Kazumi and give her a hug after the fight was over.

室内でリキは、歩行練習させてるみたいでかわいいですよね💖 妹が泣けば気にかけて揺らしたり、あやすのも上手になってきましたが、子守りは、チンパンジーも大変らしくて 結構早め返しに行きます😁

Incredibly beautiful, there is a deep bond between the siblings. Riki is so nice to the little ones. The only thing that always makes me anxious is the outdoor enclosure because Riki runs so fast there with the little one in his arms. The risk must be accepted but one thing is certain Riki is a treasure. Thanks for the video, it was certainly not easy to film in the wind.

Oh my gosh. This little Rikki wants to have babies to take care of. He's also a bit of a scavenger, draining everybody's already drained bottles. I wondered if they were allowed to drink as much as they wanted, would they drink until they became ill or would they drink until they were full? I think that the mother of the twins was truly trusting but also extremely cautious. She heard a baby squealing and immediately scooped up her other twin and headed out to find the one that Rikki had commandeered. He gave the baby up without aggression, but I wondered if he might hurt the baby accidentally, the way he scampered about the play area. This was really nice to watch, even if it was a little unnerving.

I know everybody wants to sing Riki's praises and he has been a very special male chimp so far. The problem with all male Chimpanzees is that when they mature into their full adulthood their hormones' take over and even the sweetest smartest and most loyal Chimp males turn into violent tyrants. The most well known examples of this was the birth, childhood, and eventual violent adult nightmare-machine was the Gombe chimp FRODO. We watched Frodo grow up as a sweet, loving, loyal, son and brother only for his hormones' turn him into an alpha-male tyrant, mother-raper, and baby chimp and baby human murderer. Who knows? Maybe a miracle happens and Riki becomes the rare anomaly? I sure hope so!

No wonder that twins were rough when yotsuba gave them chance to play rough. Something to be said for tough love at least in sturdy chimps with family bond
