I'm from the UK, (and not of Chinese descent), and I would say without the slightest hesitation that China are, and almost always have been, (and probably almost always will be) the stand-out greatest table tennis nation in the World. That said, in reading the comments on here, I'm disappointed that there is very little praise for the Japanese players compared to the multitude of excuses for the 'disastrous' loss of the Chinese team. Think of the young Japanese players, they're from a country which for 50 years has only known being smashed and humiliated by China at Table Tennis, so can you imagine the 'mental demons' in their heads that they had to overcome just to beat China this once? And what about Miwa Harimoto brilliantly winning her 2 matches!? She only turned 16 just before the Paris Olympics, and had never beaten Sun Ying Sha before. Yet people on here appear to give her little praise, as though Miwa only won her matches because the Chinese were not at their best. Come on China fans - give Miwa and Japan a bit more credit!
