One of the best unknown bands ever! Saw them in Bochum / Germany in a club called Zwischenfall in the 90s. Craig had a birdcage over his head but his voice even impressed me much more! Deep love ❤️

I could never sum it all up into words, but this record means so, so, so much to me. There was a special time and place in my life and this record was there. Fucking amazing

This album feels like 2 lifetimes ago. I know every word by heart, like an awaiting parent admires others peoples children. Knowing (not knowing but pretty damn sure) that their kid is going to be the best brightest and nicest kid ever. And maybe fix this messed up world before another generation has to endure, as we were told to do, rather than talk and heal. Ok that may be a tirade but somehow I think someone will get it. I'm on Red House Road. My Best Friend Killed himself the year after this came out.. I kept me from following him. this album and the Voltaire song Feathery Wings.

@@lizjohnson1979 agreed! 2 lifetimes ago… I tend to listen to music seasonally, and this is very much a spring/summer record for me. Nice to meet someone who appreciates it as much as me!

Heard these guys when I was like 14 or so and didn't much care for them. Here I am 26 years later at 40 and I haven't been able to stop listening to them. First album I heard was Ten Spot and so far that seems to be my favorite. It's unlike anything else. Totally original and awesome. I may be late to the party, but I'm glad I made it in time to hear these guys. 🤯

As a 45 year old this is one of only 90s groups that I regularly recommend people check out. They were that good and that under appreciated. I was really into the Pony Express album for a time back then...my friends didn't get it.

@@samuelmorse784 I saw them 3 times in total. The first time was the tour for this record, and they opened for Jawbox. Then I saw them on the Pony Express tour, and Sunny Day Real Estate and Soul Coughing opened. The last time was right before the last record came out, and they opened for Radiohead. They seemed to get on good tours, it's just challenging music, that the masses weren't ready for. Top 5 band for me!!

I first saw them with Swiz (whom I already loved) and American Standard (whose stuff was always hard to find, so I never got into them), this was in 89 and I was 19 at the time. Couldn't get into them because of Wedron, who not only had that voice which I wasn't open minded enough to accept, but was also basically a silly looking hippie (not only long hair but he was wearing overalls with no shirt or shoes). A year later they're on Dischord and my roommates are playing Ten Spot nonstop. It took a bit of that to finally penetrate, and when this came along the next year I was fully on board. Haven't looked back. Brilliant band. For some reason they managed not to play a show in Colorado again until 93, but I saw them several times between then and 97. Thanks for reading a comment that totally bloated beyond my original intention...

I feel like they're the American version of Swervedriver (STT and Swervedriver are both cited by members of Taking Back Sunday and the Movielife as influences). Catherine Wheel reminded me more of Unrest and Ecstasy of Saint Theresa, more drugged-out and less frantic/neurotic.
