Great advice on setting the snow stakes, plus a look at the stove setup, tools & attire. Looks like it was nice out there. The viewers can understand what it feels like with the wet glove advice & things that don't freeze all up so easy. I bet keeping batteries warm & power up is plenty a challenge. Fine knowledge passed along here.

Great videos, Shug! Next weekend I'll be doing a solo (not sure if there will be snow) with my brand new Blackbird XLC. My first hammock, and my thanks to you and the Marine for all your excellent videos. You helped tremendously in my decision making process. I'm going to order the zero degree Wookie, but first I need to know which direction I sleep in as I'm a left side sleeper. Brandon suggested I sleep in it before ordering which I think is a great idea. I'm going out where I can bail out the the truck if things go horribly wrong. Don't expect that, but you're a great teacher and I've been paying attention! At 62, I'm just too old to sleep on the ground much anymore and hammocks sound divine! I'm going to use a sleeping pad and a couple of wool blankets in place of an underquilt along with some reflectix. Solo hiking is mostly how I get out in the woods and I'm looking forward to doing some backpacking this year. Nice to know at my age I can still do this. I was up at 10,000 feet on Mt Charleston about 8 weeks ago at a 3,000 year old bristlecone pine we call Raintree. We don't know what it calls itself! :) Cheers, and thanks!

Excellent!! Love seeing the winter gear and yes I wish I was there! Camping in the backyard now, testing out ammo can wood stove and hot tent. Haven't been a ground dweller in 10 years. But I can ice fish out of it.I live about 15 min from Nueske's . Love there stuff!

When I have time I go. But life happens too. Work, family and such. Thankee. Backpacking is just a hobby and fun passion.

To be clear: I meant that I was glad to see you are able to get out more than you had been. Having 7 kids and being in graduate school, I understand that life can get in the way of your hobbies. I also understand that having a KZbin channel can foster a sense of obligation to get out and make videos. I’m not trying to add to that obligation. Take trips when you can. Make videos when you want to. I’m a fan regardless of whether you post twice a week or twice a year. Happy hiking!

7 kids! Good on ye'. I always feel some folks think I live in the woods. And yes, being a You tuber sort of does put that obligation on me. A blessing and a curse at times. Thankee.

Cool video. I have that exact stove stand for my whisperlite and another for my dragonfly!! Awesome stove base for snow!
