This reminds me of the first time I ever had to do a perm in cosmetology school. Omg..yall, she was an elderly caucasian lady. She was 82 (yes I asked) Her caretaker brought her in saying she wanted a perm. I am not trying to be mean but this lady had like 4 hairs. My instructor told me just to do the best I could. In school, they made us wash anyone's hair who got anything done. So this sweet lil lady had a huge humpback, and it was very difficult to lean her back to the sink. And she was not happy about getting it washed because she thought getting her hair wet was gonna make her sick. So, as I'm washing, I got water spraying every which way, my classmates TELLING me "HeY yOu'Re GeTTiNg WaTeR EvErYwHeRe" like I didn't know. Trying to whisper that I couldn't lean her back any further. It was awful. By the time I got around to putting the rollers in, I think it took 10-12. No exaggeration. That one job took almost my entire day. But afterwards she was happy and that's what matters. I'll never forget that experience.
