Anyways, Reikaku = Spirit Sense And the ‘Dharma Doll Fell Down/Bodhidharma Falls Down’ that Lilie Barro recognized as ‘chocolate ingles’ from Spain are both similar, if not identical to Red-Light, Green-Light as a children’s game, which is the gist of Shunsui’s Shikai abilities and like all Bankais, his is the Adult/Inverse version of that concept. The Theatrical Bankai: KatenKyōkotsu Karamatsu Shinjū (Bones of Heavenly Blooming Madness: Withering Pine Lovers' Suicide/ Flower Crazed Heaven Bone Spirit Withered Pine Love Suicide) To release, Shunsui holds his Shikai out in front of him with the blades pointing down, which prompts several black tendrils to extend out from him like shadows (resembling ink-drawn pine branches) while his Zanpakutō Spirit, Katen or ‘Ohana’ manifests behind him who was revealed along with most other Zanpakutō Spirits in the anime canon Zanpakutō Rebellion arc (Eps 230 - 265) as the best in anime. A vast area around Shunsui is subsequently overcast by an aura that alters the perception of those it reaches, making their surroundings appear ‘gloomy, desolate, and full of despair’ while inducing chills, and making the sky appear as if covered in eerie yellow squares, like the paneling of a theater stage, and much like Yamamoto’s Bankai with its 4 directional phases, Shunsui’s is divided into 4 acts of an adult tragic play. Act 1: ‘Hesitance and Apportionment of Wounds’ - A man hits a woman, he feels great shame as if the wounds he inflicted he can also feel them, and it becomes real damage, from mental to physical. In context, Any wounds that Shunsui or his opponent inflict on each other will emerge on their body as well, shareing the pain. Act 2: ‘The Pillow of Shame’ - The man starts feeling even worse for what he did and develops a sickness cause of this great shame. In context, black spots appear all over the body of Shunsui's opponent, causing them to bleed profusely. Act 3: ‘The Severing Abyss’ - As a way to atone the man drops into an endless ocean hoping to drown and the woman also drowns with him because she pities him. However, the man becomes a coward, starting to swim up to the surface abandoning his promise to drown along with the woman. In context, Shunsui and his opponent are engulfed in a massive, inescapable body of water, which both are meant to remain in until one of them runs out of Reiatsu and drowns. Final Act: ‘Thread-Cutting Scissors upon a Blood-Streaked Throat’ - As a result of all this, the woman wanting to get rid of the man's regret and cowardness, cuts his throat. In context, After sheathing his swords, Shunsui winds a white thread around his opponent's throat multiple times before pulling it out, leaving a deep cut in their throat that expands before blowing up their head. As for Lilie Barro’s transformation, it’s his Vollständig/Voll Stern Dich: ‘Ziliel’ (Judgment of God) which is based on the biblically accurate Seraphim angels since he’s the 1st Quincy to be granted a Schrift by Yhwach as the ‘closest to God’ and has power over the ethereal light itself.

Nice to see you remembering why Ukitake didn’t let Shunsui use Bankai. Imagine if he didn’t stop Shunsui from using it on Starrk back then. Everybody around would’ve been suffering from those acts. 😬

Little explanation about shunsui’s abilities His shikai is about children games and forces you to play His bankai is forces you into « adult games » being movies/theatre acts So his bankai forced Lille barro into a theatrical game on 4 acts. 1- sharing of wounds 2- inflicting sickness to the opponent 3- drowning him in an ocean that drains reiatsu 4- throat sliced Basically you have no choice but to go through these theatre acts and having your throat sliced It’s basically and insta kill We could also theorize that he may have more theatre stories in his bankai as he has many children games with his shikai Shunsui really have a super powerful bankai

I don't remember where kubo said it but it's true the last part . Apparently shunsui can have many more acts every one of them different till the enemy is defeated . The only thing is that the acts must follow the story

In case you’re wondering, Shunsui’s Zanpakuto did appear in the filler arc first way before in this moment in the manga. You can imagine how cool it was to see filler turned canon. Makes sense since Kubo designed all those human forms of the Zanpakutos.

Shunsui's bankai is a series of Japanese style theater acts brought into reality and it's massive area of effect type bankai, so he couldn't use it until now because it effects his allies as well if they're too close to him Act 1: Shunsui and his opponent share any damage dealt to each other, but they cannot die to those wounds Act 2: If one regrets harming the other in the previous act, they will contract a deadly illness Act 3: They're both thrown in a bottomless sea until someone's spiritual pressure runs out Act 4: Shunsui uses spiritual pressure to decapitate the now weakened opponent The play tells a double suicide story about a man who hurt his wife, and due to the shame and guilt of hurting her, he develops an incurable sickness. Then they throw themselves into a bottomless sea to kill themselves, but the man comes into second thoughts and loses his resolve and tries to swim to the surface, and then the woman cuts his throat so they can die together

Shunsui’s bankai is evil man, act 1: the damage you did to him gets inflicted on you, act 2: you, obviously, regret injuring him because you got hit with your own attack, and if you do feel regret for hitting him you contract a disease, act 3: you get drowned in a sea that drains your reiatsu and weakens you, act 4: he puts you outta your misery

I see a lot of comments down there already explaining perfectly how the theatre play works and what it signifies down below, so I just decided to point out something interesting also about his zanpakuto: Shikai is children's games, Bankai is theatre play. So we can say his shikai is Child's Play and his bankai an Adult's Play.

It appears that Lille isn’t immune to attacks that can reflect damage back onto him despite being able to phase through anything. Senjumaru’s Bankai reflected attacks he shot at a mirror back onto him. Shunsui’s Act 1 shares pain and damage which of course is how Shunsui damaged Lille.

What’s so cool about Shunsui is that he embodies the traditional Japanese Samurai and culture, and that’s probably why he’s always fighting against opponents with guns. Traditional vs Modern.

Lille Barro is the leader of the Elite Guard, the first Quincy to be granted a Schrift, and is the "Messenger of God". His power is absolute, the guy is like an actual God. However, Haschwalth is the Sternritter Grandmaster, the (former) next Emperor, and is linked to Yhwach in ways you have seen, and some you have not. Jugram Haschwalth is generally considered above Lille Barro in terms of status and power, for those reasons and others that I will not spoil.

12:40 Actually Lille Barro didn't die from the sword but from Shinsui crazy Bankai hax Act 1 shares damage on his opposition. Act 2 incurable sickness. Act 3 Reaitsu loss Act 4 decapitation None of above were inflicted by weapon/sword.. Lille was right he can't be killed by any weapon at that point as they will go through him he pretty much intangible at this point.

shunsui and zaraki both are kinda different, but also similar zaraki don't care about wounds in his berserk mode and shunsui bc he's too chill, also fun fact from novel 8th and 11th squads are in friendly relationship they don't show it manga or anime but there was one scene (ending if remember ) when shunsui and zaraki drinking sake this is reference to novel bc kenpachi kuruyashiki was he's closets friend after ukitake and even after that kenpachi azashiro also was in good friendly relationship with him this is not spoiler they don't show it in manga or anime.

He's immune to most things until his attacks get reflected back at him. But that's only for his specific light based moves likes Trompete specifically.

I'll copy a comment of other video that explains perfectly what shunsui's bankai really means: So some context, his shikai is based on children's games and his bankai is based on theatre plays for adults. We know this because the play shunsui is telling is a suicide story of a couple, a man and a woman. Lillie Barro is the man, Shunsui is the woman. In Act 1: because the man hit the woman, he feels great shame as if the wounds he inflicted he can also feel them (and it becomes real damage). Act 2: the man starts feeling even worse for what he did and develops a sickness because of this great shame. Act 3: as a way to atone the man drops into a endless ocean hoping to drown and the woman also drowns with him because she pities him. However, the man becomes a coward, starting to swim up to the surface abandoning his promise to drown along with the woman. Act 4: As a result of all this, the woman wanting to get rid of the man's regret and cowardness, cuts his throat and then she drowns, as if the promise they made was never broken. With that comment in mind you can rewatch the bankai scene and all of it will make sense, my man's power is so OP, Lille got immune to physical damage since he opened his eye but this bankai only cause effects direct on his body with a "insta kill" in the end, making it inescapable

Bleach is awesome but the black guy's should stop transforming 😂 they get done so dirty, easily the worst design's in the anime.. The base form's and even Kaname's first tranformation were cool but his bug/fly tranformation, no.. This transformation no and worst of all, the Espada #7 transformation.. As bad as the bug was, the Espada got done the dirtiest with that design..
