There are no words to describe Cherkassky's playing. Went to his recitals in Amsterdam every time he played here. His Bach is amazing; although he was critized for it, cause it was not done to play Bach on a piano in those days. Wished he was still alive!!

Most enjoyable, vintage Cherkassky, all his classic characterstics plus a touch of extra brilliance- ye gods, the Rach Polka sizzles like a firework and i heard this piece from him many times in concert- always different! Only the pitch wobble disturbs the earlier part a little but this seems to improve later. Thank you for sharing a marvellous musical moment.

I've always liked Cherkassky, but this playing is much much better than the recordings from his last few years I've heard.

The Beethoven was the first piece of music I heard in my life and that played by Usha Cherkassky in the 1950's.

One of the greatest piano recitals ever recorded (though the deleted applause mars the enjoyment, making it sound canned). I saw Cherkassky live in the 80s and he plays much more freely here, although he was still very great in his last years. Incredible rhapsodic freedom in the Liszt Hung 12 here, the greatest performance of that piece I think that I've ever heard.
