I have the KSM313, and I can definitely say that it's beyond reproach. I bought mine quite a while back, and it came with the aluminum case. I tested the Sterling Audio in a GC last year, and I found it to be very bright and thin on vocals. It's also definitely not nearly as sturdy as the Shure. Thanks for the shootout. 👍🏻

But as a budget Ribbon mic, it slays though! Compared to the other mics I have... SM57, Sm48, etc although I don’t have any other ribbon mics for comparison. While it is brighter, I have made some great and excellent recordings with my two st170’s along with my sm57 for some fun Mid-side... wish I had the Shure Ribbon... but at this moment it’s above my budget... one day! Cheers

Shure sounds better. Personally, I mix the Shure SM57 with a Rose NGT1 microphone to catch a better sound. I have not actually I’ve done this in a video but I’m still experimenting as these are brand new that I have recently bought.

Nice mix of mics. I like mixing mics as well, it also gives a different option for sections of a track

@@thejay I try to do videos where I’ll capture the guitar tones of different tones so recording what I’m hearing is a must.

I don’t think they sound similar. The sterling has more top brittle, although it still sounds great. To me the shure has more natural sounding focused mids.

Shure sounds more frequency complete.

For distorted/overdrive tones the Sterling by itself sounds better. But I’d grab the darker shure and mix it with another mic and it’d be perfect
