Shure SM57 vs Sennheiser MD421 for overdriven electric guitar

Gonna pick up a 421 and use that with the sm57 to blend the sounds together. Seems to be an industry standard and a good point to start at. Great review of the 2 mics man!

hey man great video, exactly what I was looking for. Isolated I prefer the MD421, because the SM57 sounds more fizzy in the higher mids. The 421 sounds more balanced overall. How do they perform in a mix for you? Cheers from Germany😎🤘

Good comparison. I think the best use case is recording with both and blending them in the mix as a sort of "EQ", if you will.

Have you noticed a warmed sound out of the 421 compared to the 57? Going to pick up the 421 cause the 57 sounds a bit bright by itself.
