my Galaxy s10+ wont use the MV88+ for some reason through the USB-C. the Motiv app recognizes sound on the equalizer, but when I record there is nothing on the playback. When I try to use my phone video camera it says something about trying to use the headphone jack. Any ideas?

Hi! Check the Monitor Mix blend to ensure that audio is passing and you can monitor playback. Move the Monitor Mix slider to the center to hear audio that is being currently recorded and previously recorded audio.

Hi! The MOTIV app records uncompressed audio files to provide the highest quality recording. However, you might find it more useful to record in a compressed file format. Compressed files take up less storage space allowing you more space on your device to record. It's also easier to share compressed files by message or email because compressed files use less data. Consider using a compressed format for recording demos or initial ideas because in this case it is more important to capture the idea than have the highest possible fidelity recording. If you are unsure about which format to choose, start with the highest quality setting. You can always compress files later from your library if you find that you require smaller files sizes. Hi there! I do standup comedy and want to record my sets - both my audio and the audience response. Would this work for that? If so, what would be the best settings for a smallish club (200 people approx) where I would have a stage mic and would set up my phone at the back of the room? (If feeling ambitious I would use this as a secondary camera to a camcorder to which I would be connected with a wireless lav mic.) I am presently leaning towards just getting the MV88 and not the MV88+ as there seems less to fuss about. Thoughts/suggestions?

If the Lighting cable was lighter and more flexible, you could easily mount the mic on a gimbal rather than the smart/camera(phone) As it is, the cable attachment kills the Osmo Mobile 3 but the Zhiyun Smooth 2 seems to handle the cable’s tugging tension.

Hi! The input monitor at the top of the ShurePlus MOTIV mobile app displays the strength of the input signal and whether that signal is mono or stereo. The loudest peaks should reach within the target range (indicated by the shaded region between -12 and -3 dB). You can then adjust mic gain as needed.

I have owned and used the MV88 for awhile. I went from a Zoom to this and is quite a step up. If I upgrade to the MV88+ I would do so to increase the sound quality of the mic. Is the MV88 and MV88+ basically the same mic? Thank you.

When you use either our ShurePlus MOTIV app or any other video app that supports external mics, the audio track on the video will come from the MV88+. There is no need to record a separate audio track.

Hi, thanks for this tutorial. You mentioned that this mic once set up it will record the same no matter if you do it through the ap or not. However, I'm finding quite a big difference in voice loudness when I record the video through the sure ap (voice is louder) then through the phone directly. Could you tell me why is that? Is there anything that I can do about it? I'm asking because I'm going to use a gimbal to record videos and I'm not sure how is that going to affect my voice when you have no choice of recording video through the sure ap.

There is a speaker icon in the quick touch dsp menu.... but of course you LEFT THAT OUT of the tutorial. WHY did you skip the speaker recording mode?? Yes! You can use the free ShurePlus MOTIV audio app to set it to capture anything, from very loud sounds to very close sounds. And once you have it set, the settings will remain on the mic and can be used with any third-party video or recording app that supports external microphones until you go back into our app and change them again.
