It would cost all his gold to level, so he wouldn’t have the money to roll for upgrades for a couple rounds and with 17 health he’s basically 2 loses away from dying. Any amount of 2 stars is better than adding a new 1 star unit so it’s better to roll with the gold and stabilize instead of leveling in that spot. If he was first or second than it’s an option to do to increase store odds for 4 costs, but at that point you can just Econ and level regularly since you’re board would already be strong if you’re in first/you have the health to keep Econ if you take loses.

I mean, you say you were unlucky but you were rolling for 4 costs at lvl 7. I never reroll before lvl8 for 4 costs, and still get the same luck you do at 7. That was just a moment of poor judgment brotherman. Doesn't change the fact you're a fantastic player, with the best insight on TFT mechanics I've seen so far.
