For those unaware (cause ive seen a total of 0 reactors catch it) the Chumbawumba line is actually pretty clever. Chumbawumba was a british band most well know for the song Tubthumping whereas the main chourus is "I get knocked down, but i get up again, aint nothig gonna keep me down". This ties in to "Get back up like its Chumbawumba" in ties to Tubthumping, but also into Slapstick style cartoon comedy of getting slapped tf around but still getting back up

In my opinion Gear 5 is the best transformation out of any manga/anime aside from Super Saiyan. I love how Gear 5 is only as strong as it's users' imagination and is literally the embodiment freedom of which is the perfect final transformation for Luffy who had been showing off his imaginative ways to use the Gomu Gomu no mi since he was first introduced. So for me at least, without a doubt, UI is much worse than Gear 5

Love the rap and love your reaction, I like gear 5 for it's creativity but if we are talking about hype, Ultra Instinct's hype was unreal! People lost their marbles when the 2 episode special aired. Some people closed their shops early just to watch those episodes.

I think both are really cool, but I'm gonna say Gear 5 primarily since that's something totally unique to Luffy... and feels like a proper transformation. A completely different state of being. I can't say that for Ultra Instinct. I'd compare UI to the Black Flash in JJK more, since both are really strong techniques that everyone CAN access but few actually do. That aside... nah, this right here is PEAK. DPS and Rustage at their current level and allowing themselves to be goofy af AND hard as hell on a track like this is an absolute treat for us listeners. Gonna have this one on repeat for a while.

For me its UI just because the pure excitement i felt when he came back then started fight head to head with jiren was absolutely insane then when he kept using it little by little till he finally hit mui absolutely amazing. Dont get me wrong. G5 had me feeling the same things, but personally, UI 💯 🔥

Gear 5 is definitely a more interesting and creative transformation. UI is huge for the series, and Goku's scenes were fire and iconic, but something about how unique Gear 5 is will etch it in my mind forever. Love the reaction to the "Bo-yo-yoing!" Bar. I was looking for that when I clicked XD!

Ultra Instinct had the kind of hype for how unexpected it was, we had never seen anything like that in dragon ball before. Gear 5 was also unexpected in a way but when it got revealed everyone immediately wanted to see it animated. The Dragon Ball Super anime got to these events first so there wasn't anything to look forward to which is why I think people were so hyped when they showed it off while One Piece showed it off in the manga and it took a good few months I believe before we got these episodes so we had something to look forward to in that case. As to which is more hype probably Gear 5 for how stupid it is, it's essentially a gag that was pulled off perfectly while Ultra Instinct had potential and then they kinda ruined it later on.

The funniest thing with this song is that it is titled "Liberation". The word liberation is not said a single time in the song. As for which transformation is better, Gear 5 beats out UI hands down, but I would give more credit to the original Super Saiyan transformation by Goku against Frieza. The original super saiyan form was built up in the lore of the DBZ world and that first transform of Goku to beat Frieza was iconic, they just buried it with further transformations. Similarly, Gear 5/Joy Boy was built up in the lore of the One Piece world and the transformation was a fruition of that. The thing is, Gear 5 beats the original Super Saiyan because it is happening at the final arc of One Piece, letting it not be buried by further transformations like Super Saiyan was.

Ultra instinct had an incredible OST and Goku absolutely decimating Jiren was hella sick, but I have to say, gear 5 tops it off. Dragon ball has had too many transformations and Ultra instinct just does not feel as significant. In comparison, the whole drums of liberation, Luffy turning into a whole psycho cartoon and effortlessly beating up Kaido was just incredible. Also the transformation kinda symbolizes Luffy's ideals and some of the undertones of the entire show itself. Gear 5 feels like everything in one piece led up to that while Ultra instinct just feels like a transformation added for the sake of the plot. There's no comparing the two, Gear 5 easily tops it off.

i know it’s a joke but unironically Gear 5 is peak. I remember DBS fans were super salty when gear 5 dropped in the anime, how people overhyped it for saying it was a historical moment, but as someone who doesn’t even _like_ Gear 5, i know it was some kinda milestone just for the animation alone and how it was taking the most popular piece of of modern eastern animation and paying homage to the entire history of western animation. “Goku got his 7th super form and now he’s a different color” absolutely cannot compare. Gear 5 embodies not just Luffy's character but his goal. Freedom. Gear 5 is literally Luffy as he wants to be, as he sort of thinks the world should be. UI is just a hype power up, nothing wrong with that. Just thats kinda all it is But the purpose and meaning behind gear 5 on top of the hype make it the best transformation in anime
