Every time I find a Shy Ranger, it runs away before I can even use Thought Peek. I thought the Rat Funks were bad ...

Yeah this is recorded in the post game and I still have to have geno with 20+ speed boosting items and that only barely puts him above the Shy Rangers speed. The main way the game expects you to get them is for them to use their first turn attacking instead of escaping which I think is lame.

If you do get someone high speed enough, you can do what I did and switch them out with mallow. Switching party members let's them move at the same speed so that works out.

What build did you put on it to reach 90 speed?

The Feather, it's gotten by successfully completing the Dodo Statue minigame

How to use Thought Peek on shy ranger?

Easiest way is giving Geno a speed boosting item so he's faster than Shy Ranger, than switching to Mallow
