◆Edit: Yo my home dogs, just so you guys don't, like, tell me a million more times, I am well aware that the original song is Intersteller Retribution, not disbelief. No, it's not undertale.
And yes I know that it's also been borrowed for the AU interchanged tale. But literally I was only requested to do (and only interested in writing lyrics for) disbelief papyrus...so ye.
Also I am aware that the instrumentals I used are also not titled disbelief, but they are remixed from intersteller retribution with undertale in mind. Also the mixer wrote in his description "it's disbelief" so lol even though he wrote "interchanged tale" it still works for disbelief since it has pretty much the same melody and what not.
I hope that clears that up. Thank you for all the kind comments as well. It did boost my confidence a bit, lyric writing wise!◆
While you nerds were screaming at Zoe to finish/write her Disbelief lyrics, I stealthily did that do because I found an instrumental that was really pretty! It's far softer than the original, and easier to sing to!
Anyway I kinda put my own spin on this, because I personally dont believe Papyrus would become hateful at all. He would keep trying to change your attitude the whole way through, because he loves and cares about you. ; w ; He is in disbelief that you are so intent on doing all this destruction for literally nothing. He can't believe you'd throw away so much for nothing just because you can.

Papyrus is brave because he still 'fights' you in the actual game and Disbelief. He knows there's danger ahead, he says himself. His eye shows when he is full of BRAVERY as he tries to make you stop, even though everyone is gone sans is patient because at the end of the fight he falls asleep waiting for you to quit. JUSTICE because he is DETERMINED to stop you as you have killed everyone

Well, there's actually three versions of Disbelief, one where he fully loses faith in you and attempts to defeat you with all of his might, another where he still has faith in you and tries to make you change and a third where it starts with the latter but transitions into the former. Shy has created these lyrics based off of the third version, that Papyrus still believes that the protagonist can change, however when the human doesn't stop advancing he realises that because he 'can' stop them, he 'has' to, so he musters all of his bravery in an attempt to make one final stand against the human, for the last few remaining monsters and for all of humanity as well. I don't know why but I believe that he would stop talking in capitals as he's really depressed at this point, However he would still capitalise letters at the start of sentences and such. So... It's been a while since we last met, human... No, what ever you are. I remember, Snowdin Town... I guess you can call it *dust*in town now... Sans he... *sniff* He was there, when we battled, he... He saved me from you, you were going to destroy me, turn me into dust, however like the older brother that I had always thought I wanted him to be... He took my place... *And you turned HIM into dust instead...* But I, the GREAT... No, I cannot call myself that any longer, I, Papyrus will try to help you, to make one final effort to settle this in a peaceful manner! So what do you say, h-human? Would you care to bring back all of my friends, my family, all of those innocent lives and... Jerry if you have time? * You walk forward. ... I see... You know, I once used to think that action was to give me a hug of acceptance, that same attitude was the reason my brother died... I blame nobody but myself for not knowing better. Throughout the battle Papyrus would imagine Sans' ghost next to him, saying a pun, Papyrus would get mad and yell at his late brother, only to realise that he's shouting at the dusty air around him. Eventually Sans would say a pun and Papyrus would just cry, collapsing onto his knees with his head down, at this point you have two options: Spare or Fight. Spare: Papyrus would look up at you and question what you're doing, he would give a slight smile saying that you may have some empathy after all. He would slowly get up and would say something that Sans once told him, 'that human, they seem a little off, I feel like they may have some sorta' power', this would be followed by a question: "Do you believe that if you do indeed have a weird power, that you should use it responsibly, saying yes would be responded with, "well, I guess you blundered on that part," saying no would be responded with, "then this is why you've come so far." Either decision will lead him to block the exits with blue bones and say to the human that they just have to RESET, at this point you can't do anything as your game effectively softlocks, attempts to talk to Papyrus would result first result in, "the power is in your hands," and then subsequent attempts would result in, "human..." Fight: The player deals an attack that strikes the vulnerable Papyrus with 999,999 damage, Papyrus would start to look up, his death animation would be really slow, he would utter one final sentence, "d-dark, darker yet darker... My vision fades and my body disintegrates into the abyss, my existence is over, don't tell Sans this but I truly believe that you are the future of monsters, my child, you're destined for great things... The power is in... Your hands now..." Papyrus would then completely turn to dust, Sans' hoodie would fall to the ground. The route would then continue as normal. If you've killed Papyrus and then go back to encounter him again he'll simply reply with, "don't you have anything better to do?" The battle would start but his back will be turned away, he would say that when he found everyone dead it killed him, literally, the only thing keeping him alive was Determination, but finding out that even he couldn't stop you drained him off it, he'll then instantly turn to dust, subsequent attempts would result in him saying, "goodbye." before he turns to dust. If you go back after sparing Papyrus then the exits will still be blocked, speaking to Papyrus will make him reply with, "you... You want to go back on your decision? Sorry, human but you can only have ONE boss battle with me, is your heart really full of evil and you just wanted to see what happened? If you DO Reset are you just going to go back and kill me, too? That's... Interesting to hear, oh well! At least you're going to lose your hard work, as Sans would probably say it, 'get dunked on", subsequent attempts would result in him saying, "No." If he's killed you then he'll simply say, "Another victory for Papyrus , Nyoo hoo hoo..." The battle would then start over.

You know, it feels like Papyrus isn't fighting the human, but himself. To either abandon his belief and stop the human, or to continue believing and let the human continue killing. His thoughts are turning against him while he's struggling and hurt. That's why I love this AU so much. It makes clear of Papyrus' feelings and conflict between himself. (Hi from 2020! :P)

Okay I was watching this song and it got me thinking about something. Undertale is a game where you can go without hurting anyone, where you can be an angel or a demon. When it first came out and no one had any idea what to do you know what the majority did? They started genocide, but they didn't know to get a genocide ending you had to stick around killing every single thing. When people found out what they had to do they did it. They went back and did it. it wasn't until people were told how to win pacifist that they did it. No one was kind enough to simply spare everything. I commited a genocide run myself, Undyne stopped me because I couldn't beat her, but the real reason is how horrible I felt. I killed Papyrus, someone who even in the face of death, still thinks you can do better. Still believes in you. He KNOWS you are killing monsters. yet he spares you, cries for you, even when you kill him he says he believes in you. and we went on without caring. "it's just a game, they aren't real" True, Papyrus isn't a real thing, neither is Sans. But it's the principle, we as a species have the capacity to kill the kindest soul without remorse. It isn't until we kill Sans that it catches up with you, with his final words to Papyrus. it hits you that you MURDERED his brother. His family. We really are an evil species aren't we? We kill people every day. Wars, rape, murder plauge our world. Why are we destined for murder? Why are we so evil? It baffles me. Undertale served as a test, and the Human Race failed.

Thank you! I always try to explain this concept to people that the glorification of the genocide run proves that Asgore and Chara and all the monsters who believed that humans were the real monsters were right. That the fact that everyone just automatically starts killing and hurting proves that we are just like Flowey. Daniel Algarin Thank you! I'll be honest at first I kinda accepted it, but i legit always go into some sort of deep thinking with any version of papyrus. So obviously when I start thinking about it I'm like Would he actually become hateful? Because he wasn't any more than disappointed when you kill him and like a bunch of other people, and offered to help you change for the better. I know eventually, yes, he would fight you because sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do, and he knows that, but the whole time I know he'd be trying his best to change you because he wants to believe there's good in everyone. Whenever I bring up Undertale, my friends are always trying to convince me to do the genocide run. (I don't have the heart to even reset my pacifist run after watching "The Thought Undertale Movie" by... I think Starbot Dubs? (I've also ever only done one run of the game, that being the pacifist route)) I got a new computer and am thinking about redoing the pacifist run on it though. Another thing that bothers me, is that my friends have all recently started talking about how "cringey" they think the fandom has become. (With its NSFW work, people new to voice acting and singing, etc. (I just wish people looked at the things that are good/thought to be good, than the things that are bad/thought to be bad)) Also, I have to say, I don't know what the effect you use on your voice at 0:28 is called, but I really liked it! Daniel Algarin oh gosh yeah Before I played it, a few of my friends told me it's better if I do genocide first. Of course I planned on going with it because they had played already. When I got it I felt bad killing the first few monsters since tori is so nice and said don't But I was like oh this is how it's gotta be I got passed tori and felt that maybe I'm not doing the right thing because she was so nice to me, but I shrugged it off. Of course I finally got to papyrus and I just like I dunno his speech kinda made cry and I couldn't kill him so I spared him and reset pffff I also hid and locked away my file once I did pacifist because heck protect them So I totes get ya heheh And I do agree some of the fans are cringey but there are fans like that in every fandom~ some are just louder than others. Shy Siesta Yeah, to be honest, when I first played, I killed Toriel and immediately reset when I found out. I couldn't figure out how to spare her for a while. (and my friend wouldn't let me look it up, which I was quite tempted to do) I remember hearing about how monsters could be spared if they were at low health, so I did that for Toriel and it worked, I was pretty happy, and then I found out the real way to spare her and found out I had just pressed it that many times without noticing. After that, I told myself that I was going to do the pacifist run, and it was so worth it. I wish I had more to talk about, because it's pretty fun conversing with you, but I've got nothing. WAIT!!! Hello, Shy. I had a really bad time today. My cat got lost and I can't find her ANYWHERE. I looked everywhere, but, she is nowhere to be found. Long ago, I had a total of 15 cats. 1 was lost, 1 died, and the rest got sold, by my neighbors.. I started crying, because I don't know what to do. My cat was the best pet, the best alarm clock, and the best animal I ever had. She's my only pet, and now.... she's gone. This day, this video REALLY cheered me up. Thanks Shy.
