Something I really loved about CrossCode is its setting. The whole game takes place within a VR MMO and the random people you run into feel like actual people playing the game. Each of the main characters has their own distinct personality quirks of course, but this even extends to a lot of the random side characters. My favorite example of this is Table Girl. She likes sitting on tables instead of chairs because she thinks it's funny. You see her and her friend periodically as you go through the story arguing about it and eventually Table Girl gets other people to start doing it too. It really does feel like someone basically started a meme. So much went into the world building of CrossCode and it shows. The game you're playing as Lea feels like it could be an actual game and there's a lot of meta stuff to it. I also seriously love the puzzles (even in my peanut brain had to spend a few days on some of them). They're REALLY good at teaching you how to use new mechanics without overtly teaching you. Absolutely phenomenal and I might have to go through it again now.

CrossCode is so fucking good, it keeps 2nd place in my favorite games since I found it back in 2019. It's suprisingly long for an indie game, got like 70 hours in just first playthrough (main story, DLC, both endings, and all optional areas and quests) there's also lots of fun on NG+ with modifiers, especially new dialogues on certain mods. Great game. Just a note for anyone wanting to buy it, the puzzles are hard. Like, really fucking hard, you'll spend so many time on some of those puzzles that it's just insane. Some of the non dungeon puzzles unironically made my head hurt.

Pleasant surprise to see Pokemon Crystal at #1! I didn't grow up with Pokemon at a young age but I got into the series as a teenager and the virtual console version of Pokemon Gold became one of my most played games on the 3DS despite it not actually being a 3DS game. While the amount of level grinding is a turnoff for some people, it can actually be really chill to slowly grind levels for your team while listening to music or watching a video. Also, Item Asylum looks absolutely hilarious with all of those ridiculous memes and vine sounds. I haven't touched Roblox in a long time but I might want to log back into it just to try that game out.

My own list, since I've seen a couple of these (awesome video btw): 10) Spore: Galactic Adventures - One of the first games I remember playing on a computer. Super fun and usually pretty laid back, though the gameplay does get a bit stale and repetitive in the second half of the game, not to mention the huge difficulty spike in the space stage. 9) Super Mario Galaxy - I have a lot of good memories with this game and have completed it more times than I can count. It isn't higher on the list as a lot of the endgame and filler stars can be kind of annoying and tedious which makes 100%ing the game kind of a chore at times. 8) Dark Souls 1 or 3 - These two could both be interchanged as I had an awesome experience with both of them and became absolutely obsessed with their worlds for a while after beating them. Honestly I never found the games too difficult, although I have yet to complete the Ringed City or Ashes of Ariandel DLCs. 7) Minecraft - Yes everyone seems to have this on their list, but as someone who's played on and off since the game was in beta and spent thousands of hours in it, it holds a really special place for me. It has the same issue as Spore though, it gets very boring if you play it too long. 6) Terraria - Another game I've been playing for years, but vanilla got super old for me and I didn't like 1.4 so I pretty much exclusively play modded now. 5) Risk of Rain 2 - A phenomenal game and one of the few roguelikes I actually enjoy, I can get sucked into the game for hours at a time because it's just so satisfying and addictive 4) Breath of the Wild - I will never forget my first experience with this game, it was one of the only games that I genuinely could not put down after I bought it. If you have a switch, even if you don't like Zelda or open-world games, PLEASE PLAY IT. 3) Geometry Dash - With well over a thousand hours and literally my whole yt channel revolving around the game, it's safe to say this is one of my favourites. I met a lot of my online friends through the game as well, and I have a lot of good memories playing it with friends. 2) Celeste - I love platformers, but this was the first one I was actually compelled to 100% as soon as I beat it. Chapter 9 and all the C-Sides were a massive grind but I never got frustrated or angry at the game, even after dying literally 1000 times to a single room. Madeline is an incredibly likeable and relatable protagonist, and almost everything about the game is just immaculate. 1) Drawn to Life (DS) - So few people have heard of this game which is devastating because it is by far the best one I have played. Maybe it's the nostalgia speaking, but I have beaten it more times than I can even count and every playthrough is an absolute pleasure. The graphics are really nice and vibrant, every area and level is unique, the music is an absolute BANGER and the gameplay, while very simplistic, is satisfying and uses each level's gimmick to it's full potential.

I can appreciate Roblox being 2nd as practically being a way of gaming even more than a game. And I can also appreciate Pokemon Crystal being 1st place - I always struggle with whether I prefer Pokemon before Gen 4 or during Gen 4/5, pre-Gen 4 has some really classic games but the Physical Special split not being introduced until Gen 4 really pains me. Especially since double battles are my favourite way to experience Pokemon and those were at their single player height in Gen 3, and I can only think of one double battle focused game after Gen 3.

Minecraft (Although I haven't played it in like, almost 6 years now. This game introduced me to Terraria.) 5. Stardew Valley (It's such a good game for chilling.) 6. Age of Defense 3 (It's an old flash game, but it was such an addicting game to play as a kid.) 7. Bounce (Yep. That old Nokia phone game. This was the game that made me become a gamer.) 8. Diamond Rush (This is another old Nokia game. It's pretty much the same tier as Bounce, but I put Bounce higher just because it had more impact to my childhood.) 9. Tumblebugs (Although Zuma was the original, this game was a more fun experience to me.) 10. Valorant (Would've been so much higher on the list if it wasn't for my terrible FPS skills. Plus, I get motion sickness the longer I play it.)

feel like listing some of my favorite games (ok this ended up being big, sorry about the wall of text) 5. Mardek series. Basically a love letter to old RPGs. Enjoyable game with a lot of world-building things that are amazing. Sadly, the game series got cancelled cause, I am not joking, God just hates the dev. Won't say what that means, just know it's bad 4. EBF5. Just... amazing JRPG mechanics done right (seriously, more games need an enemy retreat mechanic that is the same as killing an enemy). The humor is also amazing, the not taking itself seriously also hits right with me and the self-aware stuff is well implemented (seriously, fighting a glitch enemy is fun but scary) 3. Library of ruina. Only got to do the first 2 fights thanks to a discord friend, but the game is just amazing. Seriously, it's a really good game. The mechanics however are so complex, you'd give the person explaining them a seizure and you'd get a seizure as well lol 2. Aria of sorrow. First castlevania game i have ever played. It's one of the funnest games i have played and i just love this game. Seriously, try it out if you wanna get into the castlevania series. It's a good beginner game because it is not too difficult (although it might kick your ass till you learn it). Also, do not try to 100% this game. I tried on NG+ with a good chunk of items and souls already obtained. Still took 12+ hours and the game is maybe 4-5 hours long. It's the biggest mistake someone could do, trust me 1. Terraria. I have like 2000 hours on this game lol (a good chunk unrecorded though). It's also the first and only game i have ever bought and i just love every second of playing. I do get burned out a lot on it because i play it so much, but every time i return, i just enjoy it even more and magically get better at building somehow. Seriously, I am a building maniac sometimes. Tmodloader also gives close to infinite replay-ability with how crazy the modding community is for this game (although it could do with a little less calamity from time to time...)
@lukebytes53662 жыл бұрын
For some reason, terraria never stuck with me until I entered the modding community. Probably because I first started playing in expert mode, corrupted that save, and then devolved into a spiral where I'd cheat whenever a challenge came. Regardless, the mods were what really made me love terraria. from It was my first time doing anything like it for one, so the idea of a game having hundreds of times more content than what was originally intended that wasn't just recycled maps and enemies was bewildering. Not only that, I just love mods that not only add to the game, but expand upon it's mechanics or even make new ones to the point the main game is almost being used as a base code. Mods like calamity, fargo's mods, thorium, and so many others are the reasons terraria is my most played game on steam at around 2000 hours. The funny thing is I have a similar experience with roblox. Many of my favorite games on the site were ones that really expanded the capability of the game, or at least used it as a sort of base and did their own thing from there. Games like adventure forward 2, pokemon brick bronze, super paper roblox and some others imo could be anywhere else but chose roblox for one reason or another, and I wouldn't have it any other way tbh. Aside from that, I still have fun playing the majority of the wacky library. My main issue with the mainstream side is that part of the community feels like it's centered around ripping each other off, what with the countless fake anime games that feel identical in nearly every way as just one example. sometimes it feels more like a play store than a flash site. I still have fun playing Robles when I feel like it regardless, and it's still a great game (or collection I guess) when you know where to look.

About the "is Roblox a game or not" question, it's technically a game the same way Garry's Mod would be a game if you only count the default assets and stuff. It's really more of a game engine that comes with some predefined game mechanics, but those mechanics can be completely ignored like in Draw It! which is a game that really exemplifies that Roblox is much more like an engine than a game itself.
@Shyguymask2 жыл бұрын
That doesn't remove the fact It's a video game known as "Roblox", the ability to turn it into something different through advanced scripting doesn't remove that. This is possible to do in Creeper World 3 & 4 to an extent as well yet it's still Creeper World no matter what.
@DanQZ2 жыл бұрын
@@Shyguymask that's totally fair, but normally those already have objectives and gameplay loops and stuff. Roblox/Garry's Mod have the function to go to an empty map and move around, if we count that as a game in itself. Just semantics lol

Roblox is such a good game/platform. Most people probably see it as a toxic community filled with 9 year olds, but it is so much more. Many of the experiences avaible on Roblox are so fun, enjoyable, and is very well done. Not to mention the basically endless amount of vastly different experiences avaible for practically any kind of gamer. Roblox is also very easy to run on many devices, running good even on my shitty phone I have had for 5 years. While it has it's problems, for me it's always a good time and very easy to get stuck playing for hours on end. Idc what you say, Roblox is legendary.

This video made me share my own 10 personal favourite games so lets go: 10. Pixel Dungeon (a cool little game for phone and PC) 9.Spore (Cool evolution based game) 8.Shadown fight 2 (One of the best mobile game I have ever played next to Earn 2 die). 7.Roblox (Has a bunch of pretty fun games) 6.Minecraft (There is no way you don't like this game) 5.Zombotron 2 (A classic flash shooter game) 4.Clash of Clans (Good old days of rushing for the biggest TownHall level in your class when everyone used to play this) 3.Left 4 Dead/Left 4 dead 2 (Nothing better than decapitating heads of virtual zombies with a katana after a long day) 2.The Binding of Isaac (It's fun to see enemies beeing oblerated by your game breaking combination of items) 1.Need for Speed Most Wanted 2005 (One of the first games I played as a kid which made me realize how much I love races and introduced me to the other games from this series like Need For Speed Carbon and Need For Speed Prostreet).

Out of all the terraria KZbinrs, you're the only one I can safely lean on whenever everyone else talks shit about true melee (my favorite subclass BTW). Your "Melee is weak? I don't think so" video is the first video I watched from you and you were the only terraria KZbinr I saw did that because I thought all terraria KZbinrs are part of the "melee bad" circlejerk but I was proven wrong.

I very much agree with Terraria being a high placement. I’ve pretty much grown up on it and it’s been so fun to come back and replay it. Also I love early hardmode as well, just the feeling of like starting over again is just so cool.

I don't think I would be able to give all my favorite games. I've played too many, and forgotten many more. I can at least give my top 5 for everyone to critisize 5)Dead Space - I played this on my ps3 for a while, and it was really nice and atmospheric. But stick to pc aiming, your welcome 4)Tf2 - Its Tf2, how do I explain it 3)Binding of Issac (AB+ and up) - Really deep (npi), and dark in its lore. I like how it takes religion, and just flips it on its head 2)Terraria/PvZ - One, well, how could I explain it when he already has? Your videos actually inspired me to rebuy PVZ and try again, and I actually got the Golden Sunflower Trophy 1)Pokemon Alpha Sapphire - It was my first ever pokemon game, and I originally knew nothing about the game, but this got me hooked into literally everything 0)Minecraft - A golden standard for open world survivals, and one of my first ever games to play. I can even remember back before Savanahs and Dark Forests were added lol

I definitely think you guys should try Soul Knight too! Fun for sure, only thing that annoys is the use of real money to buy characters and skins. Other than that, it's a certified dungeon rpg classic.

The way I began loving video games was similar to yours. The first game I ever had beaten was new super mario bros, and it’s still probably my favorite game today. The satisfaction of seeing bowser fall to his doom for the first time was so satisfying. I’m up for a replay of the game, since it was so much of my childhood. After beating the game, I wanted more. So I got more. Also favorite three games because why not. 1. New super Mario bros. (Nostalgic experience I love coming back for, I sort of went over this one already) 2. Pikmin 2 (While the cutscenes are kinda mediocre, the gameplay is amazing, causing you to play with different strategies to suit your environment. Some of the treasure names like implements of toil are amusing, and the randomly generated cave systems are always going to make each playthrough unique.) 3. Roblox (I hate how everybody stereotypes roblox for those dumb roleplaying games such as adopt me. It’s dumb. So many talented people such as Vetexgames and such create many fun and averse games like item asylum, adventure story, and tower defense simulator. Heck, roblox is probably why I write today because one of the games there forced me to make characters myself, which gave me ideas for who and what to use there. Overall, roblox doesn’t deserve to be stereotyped as it is. And I agree with the rthro crap, the Lego-style characters are something we can’t lose in roblox.) And adventure story and the like I mentioned earlier might as well be better than the train wrecks know as Pokémon sword and shield today. Those games are just AWFUL, they’re so easy.

Even though im not as crazy for Roblox as I was in 2014-2018 it's still a legendary platform. Even if the devs rival Disney and Facebook in the greed-o-lympics, guess what? That's the beauty of a community driven game! Im so happy and surprised that it's so high up. Most gamers wouldn't have a second thought on excluding it.

SoulSilver may be my favorite game, it's the one that I have the best memories with but I think I would have loved Gold/Silver/Crystal at least as much if I played it in my childhood. Both games are awesome, HG/SS modernized the graphics and added the best thing ever (your Pokémon following you), but the snappy move animations of the original are doing a lot. ... don't tell anyone I defeated the elite 4 and Lance with mostly my Meganium and am still grinding the rest of my team to level 80 before going to challenge Red.

This entire list is great. Never got into roblox personally and it's not my thing but the other 9 would at least make my top 20 if not 10. As a monster hunter fanboy my top 3 games are mh Generations Ultimate, mh world, and mh stories 2. As I play more games , I just realize how many legitimately great games are out there and how many more I need to find. Terraria and minecraft are both easily in my top 10 though, between solo play, friends, and messing with tons of mods, both games will always have a special place in my heart. I liked fusion over dread as well, dread is amazing but I really just love all the older metroid titles.
