In this clip, Shyheim speaks about being "thrown to the wolves" by never being sent to protective custody in the New York City jails before being sent to maximum security prison, Clinton Correctional Facility in New York state. He added that he was also in general population in Clinton, and Shyheim went on to speak about people helping him out inside. My good friend David Furick spent 7 years at Clinton Correctional for Armed Robbery, 2 years at Sing Sing for a previous Armed Robbery conviction. He died last year from his opiate addiction. He was a very gentle soft spoken warm person, I can only imagine how bad it was for him. He comes from a connected family and his father was a lieutenant in a New York crime family. His father was in Federal prison on Rico charges in the 1990's. I'm sure people took care of him and protected him. My friend was an attorney before he was convinced of Armed Robbery, but couldn't practice anymore after he got released. Rest in peace David. We miss you, Sequoias forever.

I live in Dannemora NY. My dad was a CO there for 32 years. My dad always told me he showed inmates respect as long as they were respectful. He didn't get off on power tripping or being a dick. He just wanted to earn a paycheck and get through the day w as little drama as possible. He wasn't racist either.some of the COs are for sure but not my dad. He actually got ptsd from all the shit he saw in there and ended up just drinking himself to death essentially. Wild place for sure. Shout our to the the people gaurds and inmates who have been through those gates.
