this top was inspired by one of my former tops
that I created two weeks back I thought of having a different design on the chest area that would be more interesting and more appealing to look at and could relate to the beach and I came up with the inspiration of a star fish that you can clearly see across the chest

materials
hook: 3.75mm
yarn : any medium weight yarn
I'm using two strands of robin yarn (100% acrylic)
this is because robin is very thin so I double the strand to achieve something close to a medium weight yarn

The bottom of the top is Shyler's signature scallop edging. You attach the yarn, chain 1 and single crochet in the space, then chain 3, and do 3 double crochets, go straight into the next space with a single crochet, chain 3, 3 double crochet. And continue that to the end. The straps are a segment type, you attached the yarn at the last stitch of the picot edging at the top. [Ex: sc, ch 4, ss at bottom of sc, sc in same st.] And the kast st is a single crochet. Chain 3 [counts as a double crochet] followed by a double crochet, ch 3, double crochet between the two double crochets/first segment, and continue for about 45-50 segments. You can do a chain of 150-200 also. Whichever you prefer. Hope this helps ❤

If I make this again I would go right into making the straps at the top and I made one DC,3 tr for the bottom border

I tried it in cotton thread with 2.5 mm needle and my width was so small that i had to frog the top. what could i gone wrong?

I'm not Shyler, but what has worked for me and Shyler also does is she double strands the thread/yarn. I am actually making this top in a medium #4 weight, with a 4mm. Measurements are great. Do if you know them great if not learn them. Watching Shyler and learning from her videos I have learned more about measure to fit. We are not all built the same. 😅 I hope although a little late of a reply this helps.

I tried different ways of doing the bottom, eventually got it, did a row of SC (2sc in each space) then 2nd row was shell stitch (5dc) in 1st stitch sc in 2nd stitch shell into 3rd stitch sc into 4th stitch and continued like that until I finished the row then tie of, hope this is helpful.
