About the flashbangs, the earphones you see soldiers/people who are shooting/planning to shoot wear aren't just for communication, they filter out loud sounds, if you were to shoot a gun without these to protect your ears, you would go deaf after a couple magazines, I'm fairly certain they can also help with flashbangs although you still need to cover your eyes.
@grim_9124
@grim_9124 10 күн бұрын
true, they have something like a valve inside that closes when loud noise come to it. Also flashbangs work mostly through surprise, if you know its there and know where not to look to not get blinded, I guess.
@Beanpolr

@@grim_9124If you're in an enclosed space, there really isn't anywhere you can look that you won't be temporarily blinded, especially if you're in a dark area. @@Beanpolr I was more talking about the situation in the movie. They are standing outside, throwing it inside. That means the one throwing it in can turn his head or cover his eyes. A flash bang could blow your nose off, and do some 'serious' damage if detonated directly on a person, but other than that, it won't do physical damage other than the blinding and deafening... There was a case where a flashbang was detonated right beside a 19-month toddler, and they needed facial reconstruction surgery to reattach the nose and fix their month, but it didn't kill them.

@@_____-_____--______----__ Depending on the type of flashbang, and how close you are to it, it can be anywhere from maybe 10-30 seconds to a couple of minutes. The major factor is the environment. If you're in an already dark environment, your pupils are dilated to let more light in naturally. Hence why they're not really used in well lit outdoor situations. They're designed to not cause permanent damage, but people vary wildly in their own biology. Someone with more sensitive eyes would be affected more than others.

Flashbangs are concussion grenades. They have a phosphorus flash to blind you and a really loud explosive concussion, and it completely makes your nervous system go bats. I've thrown 3 in training, and it's like firing a shotgun right near your ear while someone else takes a 3mil candle flashlight and shines it right in your eyes. It ain't fun. It's potentially lethal if it goes off right by your head. Otherwise, it's to daze everyone in the room, including hostages. I know that in certain places where warehouses store super expensive stuff, they use a similar alarm system. Massive lights so bright that even closing your eyes doesn't help and loudspeakers that blare white noise at around 190db. They usually find the thief babbling on the floor, utterly incoherent and about as frightening as an over-fed cat.
@Aeikon
@Aeikon 11 күн бұрын
190db would kill, i highly doubt they blast thieves with that level of sound. Lol LRADS used for riot control operate at around 150-160db and that's enough to get people to involuntarily scatter or drop. Sound is logarithmic, you don't need to go much higher to incapacitate someone, maybe 165db?.
@joshuacrime
@joshuacrime 10 күн бұрын
@@Aeikon I'm an electrical engineer. And this is not a military system. It was definitely 190dBa at the source. And that won't kill you outright. And every 3dB is a doubling in power. The last I remember hearing about it was in Hong Kong, but I know that same system has been used in at least 10 different warehouses.
@KhronicD
@KhronicD 5 күн бұрын
@@joshuacrime I've been exposed to tons of commercial alarm systems and I can corroborate the sheer force of the sound with some of them. I've had to completely leave buildings before and contact the alarm company well away from the building because the alarm is so damned loud it's literally impossible to even hear the phone ringing much less talk to anyone while inside. Which is kind of the point really.

Not a military guy myself but.. a lot of things seemed pretty amateurish even in room clearing, there were a lot of times where angles werent covered, doors were walked right infront of, and stacking 2/3 guys in a crowded hallway. All of them arriving on site in that big "look at us we're so cool" of them kneeling down at the edge of the forest was.. odd. They all revealed themselves with no cover within a few hundred meters of the objective. And all came from the same direction with no perimeter sweep..? All of those things would of been noted and done by games/military films and you'd see them in old run throughs of various raids on drug lord "castles".

FLASHBANG STORY! back in 2016 i was stationed on Okinawa, Japan. During a house clearing drill myself and several other lower enlisted (privates and Specialists) got to be the lucky guys to play as OPFOR (oppositional forces, aka, bad guys) for the Special Forces dudes from our unit. Well we were all given a berreta 9mm loaded with those paint rounds, while the team guys had their full kits. i was wearing sweat pants, a long sleeve tee-shirt, and my issued rain coat for protection. Needless to say, we were hopelessly out-gunned and WAYYYYY out skilled in this department but its still fun. Anyway, at one point during the day i find myself tucked in a small room leading from the main hall into a larger room with a stair cases leading to the 2nd floor, I was suppose to be the first eyes on to let the friends know to flank around. Well sure enough they came to my door way from the Main hall way, i could hear them stacking up along the wall. I see a barrel just barrrly peek the edge before they shuffle back, next thing i see is a flashbang bouncing off the wall infront of me and landing, i shit you not, about 2ft from my toes. Flashbangs dont *hurt*. but good luck knowing what the fuck is going on for the next 10sec. LOUD BANGS (9 of them btw in a single grenade, we called em 9-bangs quite fittingly) and suddenly the sun is looking in your eyes for a sec. Blinded and deaf i came too a moment later to see my previously empty room now full of Special Forces dudes lined along the walls all looking and pointing M4s at me (of course loaded with paint). Thankfully the didnt shoot lol we had rules about shooting too close, but over all, fun times, would do it again, 9-bangs and more lol.

On Flashbangs: the most common is the M84 Stun grenade, capable of producing 7 megacandelas of intense light designed to fully activate all photoreceptors in a human eye, overloading them for approximately 5 seconds and leaving fuzzy afterimages that impair vision for dozens of minutes afterward, and producing 170+ decibels of sound capable of disturbing the fluid in the inner ear, causing a severe loss of balance in addition to temporary deafness. Since noise of 85 decibels is capable of causing permanent hearing damage, 170+ could also cause permanent total hearing loss if you're unfortunate.

To give a more detail than twitch chat for people. Yes, Flashbangs can hurt you beyond the light and sound. For example, if you were right next to one when it goes out, you can be injured, even killed depending on where it went off. (like near your head for whatever reason.) Though if it goes off near your head, the bang will likely knock you out instead of just deafening you, rupturing 1 or both ear drums. And if it goes off in an environment filled with gas or some thing flammable, it will set it off.

My favorite line in the whole thing is "Fix your fucking seal, dude" after he enters 1 2 3 4 and it actually works. He turns around all cocky and says he's the most valuable member but his mask is all fogged up because the air tight seal between the mouth and eye portions of his mask is compromised which is a rookie thing to not fix right away. It takes almost no time for it to start fogging up so unless you're under fire you should fix it right away because you know.... seeing is useful. But this goober turns around with the gas mask version of having a dick drawn on your forehead with sharpy and he is STILL the only reason they got through the door so no one can say anything back but "If you're going to show us up, please look presentable. This is already embarrassing enough."

3:47 The original SCP channels that post quality information and content that I rely on for quality information and story telling are *The Exploring Series* creates long form content with background images. *TheVolgun* The video cycles through background images from the view of an SCP worker office area, he himself roleplays as different scientists with different voices or accents that help immerse the viewer into the story. *MR.ILLUSTRATED* Creates illustrations for the story he talks over and will similarly voice characters or SCPs that he is covering like *TheVolgun* does. Other than those three channels I do my best to verify whatever information I hear from other SCP channels.

11:40 - Yes flashbangs hurt. Mainly in the sense that they produce a concusive blast wave and bright flash designed to disorient a target in the room. The practical effects used in this short werel iikely CGI or airsoft pyrotechnics neither of which are close to the real thing.

I remember watching a video of Ex-SEALS and Delta watching SCP: Overlord, and they just roasted it. They spent the entire time talking about how terrible the tactics were, saying that producers just needed to call them, and they'd do it right.

Ironic. They had ex-military consultants rigorously drill the actors on how to do CQB tactics 😆 I recommend checking out OperatorDrewski's video on his experience. He was one of the main actors on camera and gives some awesome behind the scenes insight

@@DeathDiamond720Really is ironic. Last I remembered, they worked on this film for about a week right? They had a military consultant but it isn’t enough stop veterans to point out some mistakes (or in this case, roasted the hell out of this genuinely amazing film)

The reason why there were 'cinema sins' in this film is due to limited time the film makers had. They had to shoot it down within two days. Still impressive that they were able to make a solid film despite limitations they faced.

Flash bangs are not blinding like you see in videos games. It's a smaller explosive with a lot of fast burning stuff to cause a bright flash and VERY loud noise that disorients and makes it hard to respond to things, say, a squad of soldiers breaking into the room you're in. It gives the assaulters entering every advantage during the duration of disorientation. HEAVILY utilized by special operations and SWAT teams, not really used by conventional military. Two common applications of the flash bang, or stun grenade, are room clearing, as seen here, and also vehicle interdictions. During the vehicle interdictions a flash bang (or multiple) will be thrown near the car right before the assaulting element begins to move.

3:47 Thank you *iamnepu* for telling her! I’m glad more people are telling people new to SCP about channels like *The Rubber.* Edit: Never mind, don’t watch SCP Explained as they are arguably just as bad as *The Rubber* for the same reasons, *SCP Explained* is also a content farm of low quality content and making stories up or extending them for unnecessary video length.

13:21 This always irks me. They needed secure the doorway to their right before addressing the tango. Some could have easily ambushed them and they would have suffered immediate casualties. Which means the actors either have not been in the service for quite some time and allowed themselves to get rusty or they’re untrained civilians.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, SCP is a goldmine for 12 episode series. The only issue is that most massive film companies would either fuck it up or don't want to touch it with a 10 foot pole because of all the copyright possibilities there are.
