SI JOINT Injection with MRI

I had my SI joint injected for pain relief on November 25, 2021. The procedure itself was not very painful But hurt for a few days after the freezing wore off. It is now January 4 and although I had a setback when I was climbing hills on my vacation it seems better now. I will update this part of my blog and let you know how long the pain relief lasts

I got it and I found the injection was very painful even tho they gave me something to numb it and my pain was horrid after the injection. After 5 days I started taking my tramadol again. But in 4 weeks I've gone from 1 tramadol a day to 3 a day. 😢

So did it really only last 4 wks? Or was that the setback from climbing?

i'm not sure but I had it again recently and I'm about a month out and it's still working but the last procedure hurt even more than the first and I'm not sure I will do it again. I was shaking and crying and I took a lot of pain meds prior.

Can you please let me know how the shote were? I have it scheduled and I’m so scared to do it. Did it hurt?

Hi Fariba. It was not as bad as I expected at all. I would say it hurt less than when you get a shot to numb your mouth at the dentist. For three days after the shot the area hurt quite a bit and then it slowly faded. However the injection only lasted 3 to 4 weeks for me so I wouldn't do it again. But I know it works for some people for a lot longer. I am going to try nerve ablation next

@@ankyspondy771 Oh wow! My dr said he wants me to start with this one then go back and do a medial block. I can’t take pain medication- is the pain tolerable? I have so much anxiety about getting the si injections. I don’t know what to expect. You’re so sweet for responding ❤️

@@faribazakeri2193 I agree I think it's a step process I had to try this first before I moved to the next treatment. Try asking for lorazepam that you can take before the injection it will calm your anxiety

@@ankyspondy771 I take that at night for anxiety but my procedure is in the morning so my back dr said to take Valium to calm me for the procedure.
