I wanted to take ballet too, but was told because of my physical disability I would not fit the norm and I have since danced in my room. I love dancing, its the one thing I wanted to do when I was able to walk at the age of 11. And to be told that I do not fit the ballet standard broke my heart, but nothing can ever break my spirit of dance.

Motso.........regardless of not fitting the ballet norm, few do, you can still take ballet lessons. There is nothing stopping from doing that. Ballet is also like the foundation of dance. So go for it, there will be a studio who will take you. Just make sure the teachers are credited.

Do what you want to do!!! There is always going to be someone out there who is willing to teach you, and everyone else, even if they can’t keep a four count. I met my teacher and she tells me every week that there is no “dancer type.” I’m bigger than most girls which makes me feel bad but I learned to get over it because I’m still a dancer at heart. Go for it when you’re ready and break through every barrier!!!!! 💗

I remember flying around the kitchen when I was 7 or 8 and dancing to songs, and always dreamed of being a ballerina, but I've been stretching out my muscles and bones, but nothing helped, I tried KZbin and did everything for 2 whole months but nothing worked I cried and hoping the day would come, I danced, And hoped around the kitchen, I thought I looked good while dancing but when I saw myself... I said "I would never be ballerina" I was ONLY 8 I shouldn't be worrying about my dreams I should be focusing on whats happening now, I begged my family, all the time, but they would always say "next week" but it would never happen, but then, I had a big kitchen so I danced there, but never flexible enough to do those moves, but I have leotards and tights and stuff, but I would never wear them, because I couldn't dance, But I was only 10 at time and said,"I'm Giving Up On My Dreams" I cried for awhile after I said everytime I see a ballerina, dance I cry, so I let go of everything, and now no one knows that I really still do wanna do ballet, I cry almost every night for the way I feel, I'm 12 turning 13 years old, and still crying, about it I wish I was a dancer.

Being trained prevents you from severely injuring yourself! If you know anything about ballet you would know that it's not anyone giving the dancer hell. It's all of us wincing at what could happen to her every time she goes up on her toes. You cant just put on a pair of pointe shoes and say oh I'm a ballerina. It takes years and years of hard work and training to prepare our bodies for getting up en pointe and if you dont respect the dangers you will get hurt.

I saw Kirkland, Makarova, Martins and endless others many, many times during 1970s at Lincoln Center. My daughter studied Ballet as a child/teen. So, yes, PROFESSIONAL Dancers would want *Training* as ANY Professional would need to have to do their *Job* well + safely.
