This song… it makes me cry when I think of my love… he has been figthing with lung cancer stage 4 for 4 years now and still going. I see him… I see this pure fire in his eyes lighting up but with time and the illness I see this fire fade slowly while all I can do is watch and not be able to take the pain for him. When he goes back to the hospital when he need care and I’m alone like now , i put this song on and think of him, sing it loud for him. I don’t want the cancer to take him away from me. This song it’s him. They gave him 6 to 12 months to live , 4 years ago.

For the last 3-4 years, this song has been my theme song. As a kid, I was diagnosed with Autism (My mom was told that I would never graduate high school, I would never go to college and I would never live a normal life). I lost my dad a little over four years ago, I finished my masters right when the pandemic started and it was very hard for me to find work in my field when I moved back home (I considered quitting music at one point). For every opportunity I’ve gotten in my life, I’ve had to fight for it.

I heard this song 5 years ago a little after a massive wildfire destroyed a large part of my hometown killing 102 people, the youngest only 6 months old. I had to cross that section every day to go to work. There was smoke for days, everything was colourless. I put the radio on and heard this song. I felt it as message of hope.
