It has opened before as well for tourist, just FYI ! Earlier tourist were even allowed to trek the Siachen with the help of army after training and fitness test..

Another informative one! One Q about travel costs. How do cabs charge there? Is it by kms or by number of tourist spot covered, or per day fare? As a couple- did you book private cabs or tried shared ones? If you tried both- cost difference between the two.

Hi Deepti, we were fortunately joined by our friends and could share the cab with them. It's a standard pricing in Ladakh - they go by the union-decided fare. It's dependent more on Kms than spots, frankly. But ofcourse, it'll get added if you add days as well. Hope that helps! :)
