Lovely Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Patlarny Sweet Days Principle (do a search on google)? I did ALL uworld questions TWICE, did ALL archer questions 1.5times, did Saunders 7th edition practice exam questions did most questions while in nursing school, listened to ALL Mark Klimek vids, listened to all of summit college vids on KZbin, my school was having me doing 300 practice questions a day😒 GOODLUCK I Hope this helped someone. @giof9005 Жыл бұрын
@@montecarlocreencia1343 but it said the pt was starting on desmopressin , so that indicated that they have DI not SIADH we do not want to stop fluid output on pts with SIADH since they already have so much. @OmgItzSammers4 жыл бұрын
@@boomboom04201 I believe it is because the patient is urinating and losing all of the water they are taking in. If they continue to take in the fluid, it will just continue this issue.

I thought this at first too. But if you think about it, during DI, you are drinking a lot of water because you are losing so much from the lack of ADH. When you start taking desmopressin, you are gaining that ADH which means your body is going to start retaining fluids. It is important to restrict your fluid intake while taking the medication to prevent fluid overload.

@@SimpleNursing So what is the answer to that question? yes or no further education?
@laurentheasian4 жыл бұрын
@@bodonap02 The answer is that they need further education if they believe they need to restrict their water intake. Patients with DI are extremely dehydrated and their output can often be greater than their input. Water intake needs to be restricted while taking Desmopressin because your body is beginning to retain fluids and if you continue drinking water like you did before getting the Desmopressin, you are at risk for fluid overload.

The focus/stem of the question is patient teaching about Desmopressin therapy, not regarding the disease. for the hypertension and edema though, I found other sources that says there is no Hypertension and edema cause it says when there is increased in blood volume and decreased in osmolarity, it actually promotes the ANP and BNP, and inhibits aldosterone. at 14:55 you skipped I will make sure to restrict water intake" -- with DI, this would be FALSE, because you are DI - Dry inside, you would want to increase water intake???? please reply thanks
@Lifelens2143 жыл бұрын
The last question, is it correct that he will decrease the water intake. No right?that is for siadh. So it should have been selected as well.

Hi Mike! For the question "A client is newly prescribed desmopressin nasal spray, which statement by the client indicates further education is needed"? (Select all that apply) 1. Frequent headaches are normal 2. I will make sure to restrict my water intake 3. This drug is used to decrease my frequent urination 4. I am glad this drug is able to treat my syndrome of inappropriate ADH 5. I will record my UOP closely while taking this drug 6. I will make sure to weigh myself weekly In the video, the answers were 1,3,4,6 I was thinking 1,2,4,6. Could you please explain this? ** Thank you so much. All your videos have been super helpful!! :) **
@dimchochan Жыл бұрын
1,4,6 are my answer. 2 is incorrected because desmopressin hold the water that why the PT needs to restrict the fluid intake.

really great video, I'm just sort of confused on that last question. should 3 not be an answer because it is a true statement? Wouldn’t desmopressin decrease frequent urination? since it is given for DI and to treat (polyuria) to help retain fluid in the body. or am i trippin? please explain, thank you for this great video. also would you also be able to explain the rationale on the 2nd answer choice in the last question?
@bbygrogu Жыл бұрын
you are not trippin bc i ran to the comments the minute he said it but apparently the blur is the correction for answer 3 bc it is a true statement. also for 2, i initially thought it was false but here's what google says "Limit your intake of water and other fluids while you are using desmopressin. Drinking too much water may lead to a serious, life-threatening electrolyte imbalance. Fluid restriction is especially important in children and older adults using desmopressin." so i think its true now
@bbygrogu Жыл бұрын
so the answers that "need further education" for that question was 1,4,6

@divya19912 жыл бұрын
In SIADH, if we add the sodium, isnt it gonna help retain more fluid into system? totally got confused. 2) if desmopressin hold the U/O how its gonna cause hyponatramia?

hi question, for the last question you skipped #2! do you restrict fluids with DI? i thought you dont. please lmk!
@emilysomohanovaldes59353 жыл бұрын
I was wondering this too ! I'm hoping he answers lol !
@mzwzy3 жыл бұрын
Yes you will restrict fluid intake. Desmopressin will decrease urine output causing the body to retain fluids. You don’t want to keep taking in extra fluids because you’ll end up with fluid overload
@lrozie703 жыл бұрын
@@mzwzy no, you do not decrease fluids. Someone with DI is dehydrated and the desmopressin helps retain the fluids lost but an individual will still need fluids.
