Lovely Video clip! Excuse me for chiming in, I am interested in your initial thoughts. Have you ever tried - Patlarny Sweet Days Principle (do a search on google)? It is an awesome one of a kind product for getting rid of diabetes minus the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my buddy after many years got cool success with it.

@@gsusmakama Since nursing is a science field that is evidence based, if there was a "cure" for diabetes, it would be well researched and would be found in NIH or journals not in a "google search".

I know a lot of people have claimed that they have been listening to your lectures for days or weeks and learn a lot. however, I stumbled upon your videos while watching LevelUp Rn and listened to your few videos (heart failure, fluids, siadh/di..and a few more). I loved that your videos were short and to the point. My nclex seemed easy because of you and I thought I was failing because I didn't think the questions were getting hard. I realized that that I understood the concept because of your vids and was able to fly thru even with those hard questions!!! Though I was on uworld daily for a good 2 weeks, I felt like I learned more from you than my 4 years of NU school. so Thank you for being you Mike!!!!

I PASSED MY NCLEX ON 6/21/2022 with 75 questions I felt overprepared because my nursing school exams was way harder than NCLEX. Simple nursing helped me ALOT I was listening to simple nursing vids right before my exam. I prayed that I dnt get EKG strip but I got one and the answer was obvious. I did ALL uworld questions TWICE, did ALL archer questions 1.5times, did Saunders 7th edition practice exam questions did most questions while in nursing school, listened to ALL Mark Klimek vids, listened to all of summit college vids on KZbin, my school was having me doing 300 practice questions a day😒 GOODLUCK I Hope this helped someone. SIMPLE nursing will help you with ATI,HESI and NCLEX. The truth is tht all the practice questions will prepare you for NCLEX but when u sit there u will def need fundamental knowledge and application the exam is not hard but you have to know what everybody else knows

@@montecarlocreencia1343 but it said the pt was starting on desmopressin , so that indicated that they have DI not SIADH we do not want to stop fluid output on pts with SIADH since they already have so much. The patient definitely has DI because we want him to stop urinating as much to avoid being dehydrated with an increase of sodium.

@hollywilson2699
@hollywilson2699 4 жыл бұрын
I thought this at first too. But if you think about it, during DI, you are drinking a lot of water because you are losing so much from the lack of ADH. When you start taking desmopressin, you are gaining that ADH which means your body is going to start retaining fluids. It is important to restrict your fluid intake while taking the medication to prevent fluid overload.

I'm a nursing professor with students who been love your videos so I am offering the following feedback wrapped in kudos for the great job you all at Simple Nursing are doing: At 15:05 if option # 3 "This drug is used to decrease my frequent urination" is a true statement then it should Not be selected as one of the correct answers because the question is interested in statements that indicate a need for further education. Please fact check me. Also, option # 2 "I will make sure to restrict my fluid intake" should be selected as one of the correct answers because there is no need to restrict fluid intake in patients with DI who have been prescribed desmopressin. I thought the desmopressin causes Headache because it decreases the Na. #2 - I thought number 2 was correct cause why would the client want to restrict the water intake if they need it? is it because of what the drug does which is to hold the water in? The focus/stem of the question is patient teaching about Desmopressin therapy, not regarding the disease. Since Desmopressin works as our natural ADH, it will retain water within the body, so the client will be teaching to restrict fluids, since the medication can cause fluid overload and hyponatremia.

for the hypertension and edema though, I found other sources that says there is no Hypertension and edema cause it says when there is increased in blood volume and decreased in osmolarity, it actually promotes the ANP and BNP, and inhibits aldosterone. Therefore, promoting sodium secretion and water secretion although there is still excess water, so that means is patient will have euvolemic hyponatremia which there is no edema and hypertension. So, I'm confused now which is which

I was just checking to same thing. My Prof said they don’t have hypertension (SIADH) and sometimes even have low BP, and when I checked online it said the same. This was the only confusing part.

Hi Mike! For the question "A client is newly prescribed desmopressin nasal spray, which statement by the client indicates further education is needed"? (Select all that apply) 1. Frequent headaches are normal 2. I will make sure to restrict my water intake 3. This drug is used to decrease my frequent urination 4. I am glad this drug is able to treat my syndrome of inappropriate ADH 5. I will record my UOP closely while taking this drug 6. I will make sure to weigh myself weekly In the video, the answers were 1,3,4,6 I was thinking 1,2,4,6. Could you please explain this? ** Thank you so much. All your videos have been super helpful!! :) **

1,4,6 are my answer. 2 is incorrected because desmopressin hold the water that why the PT needs to restrict the fluid intake.

really great video, I'm just sort of confused on that last question. should 3 not be an answer because it is a true statement? Wouldn’t desmopressin decrease frequent urination? since it is given for DI and to treat (polyuria) to help retain fluid in the body. or am i trippin? please explain, thank you for this great video. also would you also be able to explain the rationale on the 2nd answer choice in the last question?
@bbygrogu
@bbygrogu Жыл бұрын
you are not trippin bc i ran to the comments the minute he said it but apparently the blur is the correction for answer 3 bc it is a true statement. also for 2, i initially thought it was false but here's what google says "Limit your intake of water and other fluids while you are using desmopressin. Drinking too much water may lead to a serious, life-threatening electrolyte imbalance. Fluid restriction is especially important in children and older adults using desmopressin." so i think its true now
@bbygrogu

so the answers that "need further education" for that question was 1,4,6

Yes you will restrict fluid intake. Desmopressin will decrease urine output causing the body to retain fluids. You don’t want to keep taking in extra fluids because you’ll end up with fluid overload
@lrozie70
@lrozie70 3 жыл бұрын
@@mzwzy no, you do not decrease fluids. Someone with DI is dehydrated and the desmopressin helps retain the fluids lost but an individual will still need fluids.
