I have attempted to translate it from Afrikaans to English for those that do not speak or understand Afrikaans, but enjoy the music and culture! So correct me if I'm wrong, but the song is about an adult sitting in a park far away from the city, staring at the kids playing from a distance, then walking over to a little girl, holding her hand and telling her she is beautiful and then waiting for her to grow up and years later tell her she is still beautiful while he pushes her against his chest? The girl was most probably felt insecure about her freckles so he assures her that she is beautiful. She is sitting alone crying and the other kids most likely made fun of her. Later on after years he sees hed perform in front of an audience at a show. She remembers him by saying "ek wens ek kon my deur jou oë sien" In short it's almost like the ugly duckling who became beautiful
