Sibelius, the greatest symphonic composer, wrote very beautiful piano music. He is my favorite composer forever. He was the late romantic genius of music. His music is so unique and deep. ❤ And congratulation for beautiful playing of talented pianist.

When I was a wee lad in the middle of the last century and Sibelius newly dead, I was listening to his symphonic output but told not to waste my time listening to his piano works. They were wrong.

Here's a suggestion: If you're not sure that you should listen to the album at all, or in its entirety, go to the Valse No. V in E Major [0:51:14 ],and you'll appreciate, at a minimum, what you'd be missing if you skipped this "unknown" Sibelius. Warning: Most of the pieces in this 1 hour+ album need to be listened to at least twice to truly appreciate Sibelius' unknown works. Enjoy! Thanks for uploading. Lovely!

I listened to this album several months ago and bought the cd. I keep coming back. I love these sonorities. Sibelius is great.
Superb music, thank you! So melodious, sometimes solemn and sometimes soothing. Beauty of the North.

Fehlerlose und wunderschöne Interpretation dieser nordischen und fein komponierten Klavierwerke in verschidenen Tempi mit klarem doch etwas anmutigem Anschlag und mit perfekt kontrollierter Dynamik. Wahrlich wertvolle Aufnahme!

Sibelius is one of those forgotten composers that was actually pretty good
@noriemeha2 жыл бұрын
Not sure that's quite true. More true of his keyboard music which is over-shadowed by this orchestral work. Sibelius is secure in the musical canon. It's interesting that curiosity in his piano pieces is returning probably assisted, not by the concert hall, but by internet and its platforms such as KZbin.

Forgotten?! Sibelius is regularly played around the world! His second symphony, Finandia, and his violin concerto all come to immediate mind.
@kallehed63302 жыл бұрын
Unlike all other forgotten composers; which are quite awful.
@sophiegarcia511 ай бұрын
@kallehed6330 Not true. Most of the composers of the classical canon were forgotten until the past hundred and fifty years, where people finally began to appreciate them. There are other forgotten geniuses out there too… fortunately, some of them are starting to be introduced to the modern classical audience, and hopefully they too will join the classical canon in future, along with other emerging composers who show promise.

If Adorno´s judgement was wrong about Sibelius´ orchestral work, he was indeed very right as to his pianistical "output"

Who is the artist who painted this picture? Monet?? Hmm...
@cristovamramosneto30683 жыл бұрын
The picture was painted by Yrjö Aleksanteri Ollila, a Finnish Impressionist painter, designer and muralist
It's a pity he lived into his 90s and well into the 1950s, yet did not write anythin substantial for the last 30 years of his life. Would've made for some interesting music
@noriemeha3 жыл бұрын
Hard to know. Whatever he was working on after 1930 went into the room heater at Ainola in 1944 according to Aino. She wrote that it was unbearable to watch the conflagration and she fled the room. The two movements of the 8th certainly went that way. A great shame he didn't leave them for posterity to decide. Even if, like Prokofiev, his symphonic composition power was less in his last decades than it had been.
