Well, I listen to a lot of great violin playing, but it's the first I've heard this particular Francescatti recording of the Sibelius ... I listen to so many great performances that I am rarely stunned. Yet, I sit here absolutely *stunned*. That was fantastic.

This is one of the greatest recordings of this masterpiece. Certainly stands among the top 5 ever and one of my favorites now for sure. Thank you for uploading this recording!

YESSSSS.....this is Sibelius' violin concerto. Finally found it; the best for me. One doesn't find characters like Francescatti nowadays.

it's truly difficult for me to figure out which Sibelius concerto is best but I'm pleased to see that you've accomplished the task! Indeed, Francescatti has a special place in my collection of mono discs from the mid century. Happy listening and thanks for the comment.

Spivakovsky was the first rendition I heard of Sibelius vc. I was 6 years old and for me it is still one of my favorites.

Zino Francescatti's parents were violinists. He was first taught by his father who had studied with Camillo Sivori, a pupil of Paganini.

Zino Francescatti was born on this day(August 9) in 1902. This is one of my favorite recordings of Sibelius Violin Concerto!

I found a LP of this album… but I find Francescatti rushed through the Sibelius…. Am I the only one feeling this?
