On Kerri’s episode of Give It To Me Straight, I think Maddy was really good about questioning Kerri’s conspiracy thinking. She engaged and challenged some of her thinking without being insulting or disrespectful. I was also shocked by those conspiracy theories, and I think Maddy handled the interview very well. Overall the episode was really nice to learn about Kerri, it was very endearing.

Maddie has talked abt that she did experiment with her gender and even thought abt if she might be trans at some point, but then it didn't feel quite true to her, so while she is straight, her gender experience is a bit more queer than the average straight dude (which I think if you're doing drag for a living would likely going to be the case in someway) anyway. Just like Bob said, it's complex! I think it's important that we don't fall into the binary-thinking of some straight people that sexuality and gender is something simple where you either are this or that. There's so much gray area, theres life-situations, traumas, relationships to other ppl, relationship to your body, your geolocation, religion, family and just time that can all contribute immensely and change everything a person thinks they know about themselves in a blink of an eye. So there needs to always be space for questioning ppl in the community.

24:11 The point with Maddie was that she went on kind of a gender/sexuality journey because she always fell out of place in her small hometown. She ultimately realized that she does more comfortably identify as a man and enjoy being with women and that it’s totally OK to have those thoughts also if you think about crappy small towns with bullies where they call any guy that’s different gay if you get called that enough, you might start to wonder. Overall, Maddie’s a great example of gender and sexuality not being binary. unfortunately the show was so Clickbait dramatic about it.

I think a lot of people didn't like her because of her beef with Jasmine + Jorgeous, but in terms of how she performed in the challenges, she was doing way better than I think the judges were giving her credit for. She should've won that final catwalk challenge, and if they would've had a makeover challenge, I think she would've won.

I need a concise linear history of the etymology of trade. I understand the misgivings and skepticism people had over Maddy entering the drag space, but if we’re going to be absolutely real and honest with ourselves, cishet men have been doing drag, full camp, full woman impersonation for comedic purposes since drag was a thing. I feel like drag has become erroneously synonymous with being non-cishet because it is so prolific in the queer subcultures, but drag is only one of the many avenues of expression used by queer people, it is not and has never been *exclusive* to queer people. It is like how fashion and beauty has many queer men running the engines, but it would be a mistake to attribute all of its innovations and industry solely to queer men.
