I'm pretty sure she has down syndrome. It's possible that her mother abandoned her. Poor little Smush. But she has a warm safe home with lots of siblings to play with now. Doesn't her cute little face just make you wanna kiss her and feed her treats? I've never seen an ugly cat in my life, even the "ugly" ones are adorable.

We also nursed one of our cats as an sick unweaned kitten from the brink of death as well. we got her from her mother's owner mom and other kittens didn't make it and owner didnt know what to do and couldn't handle it after experiencing all the lost. We're not vets but had been caring for cats for years. We wanted to try to keep her alive. She was raggy, extremely small, and so sick mom and I didnt think she'd live through the first night. But we took turns bottle feeding her and wiping her butt to stimulate using the bathroom amd kept her in a room with a humidifier just streaming plain water to try to open up her chest she wheezed so bad. And she lived and got healthier and bigger everyday. Talia is now 6 years old and the most beautiful calico. And other than asthma and allergies is very healthy and loving. She has to sleep in your lap when she wants and you have to drop everything to love and spoil her at command multiple times a day. My family can't imagine life without her now.

Getting to this late (like three years late!), but I loved this. Special cats need special care, and it sounds like Smush went exactly where she needed to be. Having adopted a cat from a hoarder house, we know how hard it can be when your cat is scared and hiding. When we adopted our Norma, she hid behind the fridge for two solid weeks. We only pried her out when she needed medicine, and otherwise, left her alone. She came out one day, and inched towards the food, flinching...and no one else fought her for food. That seemed to settle the issue. And within a year, she was bossing us around and nagging us to sleep. She will be missed, but we gave her the best life, I think, an older cat could have, and after six years with us, she went out knowing how much she was loved. And thing is? We'd do it again. Even knowing loss will be sooner than we want; even knowing older cats from bad places have more health issues. We absolutely would, because the time they get, and the time we get with them, is precious.

I applaud you for giving them love, my own cats are both adopted and one of them was rescued from a flood. I wouldn’t have it any other way. The weird thing is that the mostly ginger cat acts like a white cat while the mostly white cat acts like a ginger 😂

That is the best thing I've heard in very long time. I have a little cat that my girlfriend and I saved. He was born with a hole in his heart. The mother stopped feeding him. We took him and fed him just like smush. He's now 1.5 years old. Still small in size, but huge in his personality. He now has 3 other cats and us as family. When I see people like you I know the world is still filled with goodness. God bless all who helped smush.

My dog had puppy's and one of them was so small I had to take him from mom and put him in a heated blanket and feed him every 2 hours .. and took him to the vet and got med.. the vet told me he won't make it.but I gave him so much love..
