When people say we shouldn't politicize school/mass shootings, ask them which party proudly wears AR-15 lapel pins on the floor of congress

Also ask which party routinely refuses to actually fight for common sense gun control, allows assault weapons bans to expire and will never use the full apparatus of government power to actually serve its citizens and meet their demands? Thank you Dr. Hunter I live in Barrow County Ga. I heard the sirens yesterday as I was outside in my flower garden watering my plants. My son called me and told me what was happening at the school. I immediately thought of my nextdoor neighbor a teenager who attens that school two miles from our subdivision. I immediately call his sister and mother. His sister answered my call and told me that she had picked him up from the school. And I was relieved to know that he was physically unharmed. However, I am saddened for the loss of lives. Its so unjust to our humanity. Parents & Families send our children and spouses & partners off to school for and education and work. And never realizing that we may never embrace them again due to the disregard for life. Because of the gun laws that allow ill intent individuals to own firearms and utilize them against innocent people an wreck havoc and destruction upon our lives.😢😢😢😢😢

EVERYDAY I drop my child off at school I pray that she comes back to me. Every time there is a school shooting it makes me anxious because I know that this can happen where I live. Nobody is immuned. No city, no state, no school.... this can happen anywhere in this country. The Sandy Hook shooting broke my heart. I don’t know a soul in Newtown, but when that shooting happened I cried like I had lost a loved one too. Sandy Hook hit me hard. It was too much. It changed me. I KNEW after such a terrible tragedy that people would wake the hell up and do something to prevent this from happening again. I was sadly disappointed. So now I have no hope that things will change. Its ridiculous that they choose to do nothing. This is a problem without a solution because they CHOOSE to not even acknowledge the real problem. This will continue to happen. If Sandy Hook didn’t move the needle, nothing will.😢💔 My heart breaks for the families that lost loved ones and the children & teachers.

Hi Karen! Love your show. This really hit home. My sister's grandson goes to Appalachia High School. Her other grandchildren were at the other high schools, and they were on lockdown until all was okay. Those schools are in Barrow County, where Winder is located, which is a rural area that has a 77% white population, so there is a huge population of Trump supporters. None of the schools had metal detectors. My family is educated, embracing our heritage, and some of us like the country. We understand the necessary un-melanated evil amongst us, and we navigate accordingly. Yesterday was scary for my family, but we're so grateful that our kids came home and sad for the victims. ❤💔

One thing that remains a complete mystery to me is why the U.S. does not adopt what is working in other countries. Almost no other country has the rate of non-military shootings we do. In Japan, which has millions of people crowded onto a small island, gun violence is virtually non-existent.

japan government, people, and religion are the same. Looking out for each other and one another are different than here in the USA where we have niches, factions, and minorities and majorities that have been fighting since 1776. Majority has to answer to minority(s) and hates it, so therefore the beast can't rest, has to wrestle to maintain majority status. Minorities stand by prodding the beast, waiting until its numbers grow enough to take it down. Blue voting is the tactic (strategy is not a plan).

What we are doing wrong? * Lack EQ skills - need this skills since elementary school * Need well-being and kindness/caring society - People are lonely and sometimes, kindness like asking "how are you feeling today" from a strangers help feel less lonely * Mental health care need to be normalize in the society like educate the public, to remove stigmatism against people who need mental health care. * Hollywood movies/shows often solve problems with guns... like the characters look cool but failing in communication skills - Why not have more shows that bring warmness in audiences' heart * Lack education to raise boys to express emotions when they are sad or scare - like crying in public is OKAY. A lot more... we could do.

It just takes one person. How do you stop that? The solution is making people not want to do it. Since that seems impossible, it's not an agenda item. Dysfunction, rage and feeling like a victim. That's behind every atrocity. How do you address that? How do you get politicians to address it? How do you get them to not overdo or under do it? To come to terms about resolving it? Even the despicable shooter has a story. Not too long ago, he was an infant.

I really think the violence is in direct correlation to the absence of stern discipline. We went from parents who “beat” their children (some went overboard - I am not denying that) to parents who “respect boundaries”. I personally think then children who received discipline (most of my peers) are not soing bad (especially with some therapy). But young adults and children nowadays are soft, sensitive and selfish. This breeds people who’s motives often don’t encompass others. A heart condition as you correctly called it. Thank you for all you do and say.
