Are you referring to the father and the step wife? Why was she waiting? Where did he go? Why did he go? Why did she continue to wait? How old when they separated? How old when they met again? Where did they meet when they reunited again? Did one have amnesia and forgot the other? Is there some dog blood drama going on? Is one cheating on the other? Is this some childhood lovers tragedy story? All these questions which is not self explanatory from ur one sentence so no! Not at all!!! Matter of fact, it's confusing af and u trying to be enigmatic is cringe. Ok now bye!

You know, in the light novel it is mentioned that he is not even his biological father. Kaoru was born from his mother's infidelity but the father accepted him and raised him in the family when his little sister died, the family disintegrated and the mother abandoned the father and left him the son who is not even his. The mother blames Kaoru for Karen's death there is a scene that I don't know if it comes out in the movie because I haven't seen it yet but it's when Kaoru goes back to see her mother who already has a partner and when she sees him, she has a panic and anxiety attack as if she had seen a monster. Apparently she blames him for Karen's death.
