Sick Old Lion Finds His Pride And Goes To Sleep

Casper the White Lion's brother, Mfowethu, eventually found his way back to the Satara Lion Pride and his cubs before dozing off.
Filmed on the H6 south of Satara Rest Camp in Kruger National Park, South Africa.
GAME DRIVE ETIQUETTE - RULES (SANParks):
- When you come across a sighting, slowly pull over on the side of the road closest to the animal, but keep a safe distance and turn OFF your engine
- If there are animals in the road, immediately stop at least 20 m from them
- The lane furthest from the sighting should NEVER be blocked, so that others can pass if they want to
- Don’t linger longer than a few minutes at a sighting, so that others can view it too
- Never go off the designated roads
- Never climb out of your vehicle during a drive, or hang out of your car windows or sunroof
- Don’t hoot or blare loud music
- Avoid driving into vegetation, as this could damage the environment or kill small animals
- During night drives, never shine a spotlight directly in animals’ eyes
- Never make noise to get animals to move, stand up or otherwise react for pictures
- Respect the rangers, and always comply with their requests or instructions

I understood he is a brother of Casper and is joining the pride...is the pride reduced to a single female and two cubs ? 🤔 In that case it will be difficult to get a large kill he needs to recover more strengths and seeing the cubs growing up fast. Bless this lions family ❤🙏

In a pride usually there are more female lions because they do most of the hunting while male lions protect the territory. Just that some might not be on the road. They can't go after the pride and videotape them. When any of the the Africa lions walk on the road for touring then that is the moment they can take close pictures and record them. In South Africa it gets dry season around April to October by what I read, so sometimes animals that graze on the territory have to move to another territory that have more food. Sometimes that means lions will have lack of food.

The pride also have sub-adults and Zorro but he is not related to the Shish brothers. There might be more cubs later since Casper and his brothers been mating with other females lately. Just Mfowethu haven't had the time to mate since he been ill, but he is a trooper and carry on like the king he is.

He did not die. He is just sleeping because most male lions also conserve their energy until night comes. Night time is when they have more advantage. Lions are primarily nocturnal.

It could be a lot of things like disease, hunting, or battling off other lions. Sometimes the meat they eat can also carry diseases like TB. Dry season in South Africa also forces animals that graze to migrate to areas that have more food, so lions lose food source too.

10 is considered old for a male lion only 10% of male lions make it to this age. They turn 10 in a couple of months I think June or July.

If it's man made injuries like snares humans intervene but if it's natural no, but this old guy is not sick he is just old and the lions in the Kruger do not have a lot of fat on them like circus lions do it's more muscle than fat because they walk very long distances , one meal and he is fat again for a few days

It happen when they step into Thorns, we call it the Haak en steek boom I stepped in one when I was about 12 years old it went through my middle toe in the centre of my middle toe at the joint it was quite very painful🥴
