We seriously need to stop having all these fake movies and feeding each other lies about emotions. Truth is, 9/10, if someone dumps you, they DON'T have feelings for you anymore. That's not going to change, so you need to just move on, instead of obsessing over it assuming it will work out like in the movies. It sucks, but we need to be realistic with people more. Reality is a shitty place, and very few people actually care about your emotions. Empathy is a lost art. Sure a lot of people try to be empathetic, but none of them truly do it right anymore. We always see people bragging about their deeds, such as helping feed the poor or donating blood... Why do we need to brag about it or need others to compliment us on doing a good job? Do those nice things cause you're being empathetic to those in need, not cause you want to look nice. :/

The lyric is saying that he doesn't care about those little things, he just cares about the person. It is most definitely a love song. This is proven by "however long that you stay is all that I am"...That is an extremely powerful line. It is a line that I frequently wish that I would have written in my band's music.

I first heard this song years ago, honestly forgot about it. But today, I went to watch Maybe and after, thought, "what other songs do I know from sick puppies? ".. This was the 1st one I thought of. Just makes me think of my "ex", if I can even call her that. We too are having an "on-off" relationship. It hurts when she decides to leave, but feels amazing when she comes back to me. But all I really want her to know is, no matter what problems or troubles she's having to go through, I wanna be there for her. Be her support when things go good, shoulder to cry on when things seem to be at their worst..but it never gets through to her, so she leaves again.
