I think that their sound changes along with them. Think about it, this album has songs about acceptance, healing, change, and growing. If you think about their older songs, these are like the rest of the story. Every album is a new chapter in their lives. That's what's so great about this band, they give off a message through not only the lyrics but the music they write to it. I'm excited to hear the next chapter of this on-going story but for now I'll be reading this one, and enjoying it.

I was sick for a long time in the army. I hated my life. I was surrounded by people that didn't care for years. I went into a serious depression. My new fiance left me 1 month after I deployed to Iraq. I lost 20 lbs in 2 weeks. I came home to the US stationed in NY and no one was there to welcome me home from hell. Hello again depression. I couldn't stop watching people's hands, body language, rooftops etc. I couldn't get that I wasn't in hell anymore. I lost my mother a few years ago before that when I was 18. I had to bury my mother when I was barely a man. I battled that depression until i was 23 years old. 5 straight years. After I got out of the army I found out I had 2 fucked up knees, a fucked up shoulder and a fucked up back. According to the gov't I am 20% disabled. I also immediately felt the depression leave me. I soon met the love of my life and fell in love with her the first day. Less than a year later we are looking for our first house and are getting married in January. For the first time in a long long time I can see light. I have no misconceptions that life will be perfect or easy. As I write these words I can't hold back the tears and welcome the sense of relief it brings this veteran. I am healing now.

Thank you for your encouraging words. I also lost my mom a few years ago. Then my Gma that took over the mother role whenever my mom was bed ridden from osteoporosis. After these tragedies, I fell & broke my back. After 4 fused vertebra, 8 screws with a bar holding it all together, I'm lucky to be walking. My wife decided that I was too much trouble to take care of, so she split. Lost everything! I've been waiting almost 2yrs for my disability hearing which means I've had to depend on the gov. friends & family for help. From all of this I've been so depressed & have almost ended it all a few times. My 3 amazing kids are the only reason I'm still here. Hearing your struggle & its comparison makes me want to keep fighting! Thank you again!

Sir, thank you so much for your service. I myself can not even imagine what you went through other than losing a mother. I lost mine to cancer when I was 16. To this day it still hurts but I'm slowly healing. Again thank you for being the man you are. A man that went through physical mental and emotional hell. But you my friend were more importantly are a man that never gave up! Your mom would be so proud of you. :)

That's a good way of looking it. Right now people seem to caught up on they don't sound as "heavy" as before, but the change makes sense. This band has always been about the lyrics for me, despite the lighter sound, the music is still real. And for that I will always listen to SP

I can understand why a lot of fans want them to go back to their old sound, because those songs got me through some tough times. Those are the songs I'd blast to just let everything roll out so I didn't end up doing something stupid. I love those songs. But I love their newer music too, because now that I'm past those times, this is what lets me look back on my feelings then and what they must've been feeling then to write and play that music and think, "We made it through. We're gonna alright now."

I think many people are using Tri-Polar as the basis for their original sound (and original fan base), and it isn't. If you want hardcore Sick Puppies, listen to their debut album Dressed Up As Life. Honestly, I thought Tri-Polar was a bit weak compared to DUAL. Connect is even further from their original sound. Yes, I'll always love DUAL the most, but it's still interesting to see what directions bands go. Back when DUAL first came out, I remember talking to Shim on the phone during one of their concerts. He sounded high off his ass (not that I'm judging) and was just really the energetic "in your face" type. Seeing interviews now, he's much more mellow and sober (I think?), and he's just really grown. Debut albums always showcase bands in their raw state, which most of us love, but it's also a neat journey to see how music changes with a band's attitude/outlook on life.

I don't see anything wrong with the new music. I mean, I enjoy all of their music. It's all good, and you can't reasonably deny it. Would you rather have them make the exact same music every album? ( I know it's not going to be possible now that Mark and Emma kicked Shimon out)

Lyrics I wrestle with my thoughts at night Anchored to the ropes I tied myself Mhmm Heaviness in both my legs Like I walked a thousand miles a day Mhmm If I could stand on top of my world I'd still be looking up At stars that I can never touch When a sky full of tears falls to the earth I gotta believe we're healing now Now before you give up, before it gets worse I have to believe we're healing now From where I stand it's hard to see What anyone has to offer me today Mhmm Courage comes from letting go And loving everything you fear away Oh I dream about war I live without peace A cell without bars Free air I can't breathe I choose to believe In the face of my doubts I am what I see I am healing now

A lot of people are like "Yo bro I like the old Music better, much harder" And then other people "Lyrics 4eva who cares". Honestly, they created an audience with tri-polar. A smash hit, for sure, for an previously unheard of band (for most). Then they "changed their sound" and well... go look at the views for a full album of tri-polar and then a full album for 'connect'. Connect been out for 3 months and doesn't scrape 40k views on most songs... tri-polar has well over 250k with some songs @7mill+. This is their fans speaking, and if they don't like creating that type of music again, then we don't like listening to them. (7mil views on possibly their hardest song, 'Going down'. Please, on the next album, prove that connect was just a one off, an adventure if you will. I love softer songs with lyrics I can understand, but use more electric guitars. Riptide is better than every song on this album, multiplied by 20. Your old fanbase never got to become fans, because your next album was quite terrible {IN COMPARISON{I don't think its all that bad, its only bad when you compare it to tri-polar}}. I still hear tri-polar come up on the radio, but this album? Rock stations aren't really into this, and your previous fans weren't either. /rant. I

jeez, a find these bands, and they have 3 maybe 4 kick ass songs and then a bunch of jangly radio shit and it's on to the next band....wonder why they do that. Hey let's do 4 songs that make us sound like nu metal post grunge gods and then radio shit all over them, does not anyone listen to the WHOLE album BEFORE they buy it anymore?
@Xeroforte4 жыл бұрын
Most people in the world listen to the record before buying it. Also how can you be surprised a post grunge nu metal band band has radio shit songs? that's literally what nu metal and post grunge is. Radio shit.
@HorrorMetalMaestroRedrusty664 жыл бұрын
@@Xeroforte humm, and you consider that only playlist on your channel, that CKY what genre exactly? Nu Metal and Post Grunge is "radio shit"..lol not any radio station i can find..lol I was referring to boy band, drake, Kanye, spears, type shit, THAT is radio crap. Ya smell like a troll baby and this song sounds like a fucking Boy Band release from New Direction..lmao OH and that CKY sounds pretty good, very very typical nicely done NU METAL with a dash of Emo PunkPop.
